i have 9 real World titles and i would choose another one instead of 1.500 dollars.but again if there is anyone who has nothing to prove then that is John Brzenk and maybe Rustam Babayev as well.
i understand people wish John to compete WAF and win but i disagree with anyon who thinks that they have right to disrespect John because of not pullingat WAF.
i know armwrestling, trust me.. John has never meant disrespect to athletes who compete WAF when he said "amateur event".he only meant about WAF not having money award by saying "amateur".
does anyone doubt the intelligence of John? trust me that he knows very well that the athletes who compete WAF such as Arsen,Pushkar,Ferit,Rustam and Ion have wins over Brzenk in pro events.
so let us stop playing this game anymore,Brzenk never disrespected WAF athletes and one can only wish to see John at WAF but has no right disrespect him for not choosing to pull at WAF.
Stop Sign started his thread without disrespect and John explained to him his reasons for not participating WAF,but the guy went a bit too far and upset John whom we all respect for his personality and career.
come on guys,if anyone deserves utmost respect in this sport then that is John Brzenk.when has he ever been unnice to anyone? i know that people do not have to respect him but this does not give right to anyone to disrespect him either.John had been a member of thi board for at least 6 years and now he is not a member anymore.he is mature enough to not to play games ,so he must have been upset to delete his account.
trust me that even his toughest opponents from overseas do not disrespect him but admire him as an "AMERICAN PULLER" (if talking about represanting USA) who has inspired the all armwrestling WORLD.

Great post. 2 legends, both with different views. Engin would take another gold, John would take the money. Honestly, if I were that good, I would likely take the money, unless $1,500 no longer meant anything to me. Unfortunately, I work hard for my money. I suspect that being an airline mechanic is also difficult work.

As an aside, it was not mac's question that made him go away. It was the violation of rules of the road.

I would much rather win the gold medal then take the money. Could I use the money? Of course. To me though winning gold at worlds would mean a lot more then money.

I agree with Anthony. Not many people can say they have won a world championship and to be able to do so is priceless! Yet, the cost of qualifying and attending World's is much more than $1500. One day I hope to see teams that are fully sponsored and you will then see the best of the best attending from all over the world!

Gold Medal period, money is money, $1,500 will be gone pretty quick and isn't a significant amount of $ in the long run (think many years). There is no amount of $ that will buy you a WAF Gold Medal, and it is something that you will have your entire life to be proud of. I'd take gold any day...
Edit: I didn't realize John deleted his account on here, very sad, I enjoyed reading his posts very much.

If you're talking prizes, I don't think it will ever be a decision I'll have to make but I'd take the gold medal without question. That being said, I wouldn't spend 1500 bucks/take 1500 away from my family to go compete for a gold medal.
