Just a lot of BS IMO. That is not the way armwrestling should be. I'm curious as to how Armwrestling "should be"? In no way do myself or Justin represent the sport as a whole. I'm one competitor and everything that was shown was real. Talking crap and backing it up is what I enjoy and it's who I am. The sport is made up of individuals and seeing different personalities is cool to see. That being said, this is not chess or golf. It's a strength sport and it can be exciting to watch in the right format. UAL has provided that format.

Yes Jake, it is strenth sport, not who can talk the best crap. I don't like to see people talk a lot a crap even if they can back it up. Personally I have to short of a fuse for someone to be in my face talking crap. Very unsporstman like.

Well how many of us have had stare downs, Q&A before and after a match, talking smack to each other during a weigh in?? Majority have not ... John B being the most traveled Puller, and Best in History has not. This is a change for Armwrestling.. Robert the UAL is taking the Hollywood Approach, Boxing Approach ...so it's not Original... Just like Cinderella Man trying to be like Rocky...Because of that people bashed the movie.
Will Dave Devoto do this? I don't think so..And it's nothing new..(the format) it's just Roberts Style...Like Mayweather VS Canelo...Great promotional show on SHOWTIME . Robert has been doing the same thing with that 3 part series... And he brings a very great show...But in both cases the people PAY FOR IT. The 40 Am's fee, 10 PPV...Yeah it's all for us, but we are making it happen with our money. Just like the PPV Mayweather Fight..was 74.00 ...Most I have paid for PPV Boxing.
But I look at it this way. All Robert is trying to do is ...go on here..and let people know how and when to tune in. He is being a good guy. No reason to mock him or saying its BS ...Either ignore his post and dont be part of UAL Nobody is putting a gun to our heads or enjoy the show..Your paying for it..

Glenn ..I agree with that part...It's not Sportsmanlike , but I'm sure they hug right after their match, but mainly Robert is telling them to go all out, and they may have to even break them up during the rubbish talking, but then more people show up the next day and/or Buy the PPV..... Because they can't wait to see what happens next. ...LOL SO TUNE IN!

I'll take 10 bucks and buy 6 tall boys and watch football all day. But will wish my Bama Boyz the best of luck. Although they don't rely on luck.

As Jake would tell you I am older then dirt and been around way to long. lol And in the 80's and 90's there was no trash talking. The wildest guy out there was Allen Fisher shaking the table. We never dreamed of mouthing off at the table. Then came along Travis. He basically invented the trash talking in arm wrestling. When ever I tell someone I am an arm wrestler the 1st thing out of there mouth is who is that big mouthy guy and the 2nd thing is who is that older guy that shakes the table. That is all they remember . They can't tell you who won or who lost but they remember those 2 guys. When I am in the gym I yell I scream I get mad and yes I even get attitude and bark and say this is my house. The wife ask me why don't you have that attitude when you compete. I said i do but I keep it in. She replied well stop that. Let it out. John Brzenk is the most well know arm wrestler in the world with the arm wrestlers. But he is not the most well know arm wrestler in the world with the common people. I would almost have to say that is geoff hale now. And that is because he puts on a show. I don't like fake stuff at the table but I do like attitude. Jake and I hate each other at the table. He is a cocky prick and I am the old man that wants his a$$. But We leave it at the table and I have a lot of respect for him. Bottom line we have tried being respectful and quiet at the table for 30 years and the sport has gone no where. It is time to step out of the box and see what happens.

Is having 6 tall boys and watching football a good way to represent armwrestling? purely just a question. for those who want to see this go far, i would imagine them training watching and supporting our sport.....or i could be wrong. i know what im doing.

Just a lot of BS IMO. That is not the way armwrestling should be. Interesting thought, how should it be, behind closed doors with 4 walls, like it has been for years.. Armwrestling is boring unless your an armwrestler and if you don't make it entertaining, it will remain behind the walls... Either love it or hate it, get used to it, trying to please a hand full of pullers vs millions of views is not a hard choice, some will talk crap and some will enjoy the show, some can trash talk and other don't need too, some will smile and some will fight, either way this is a show not just armwrestling, enjoy the tall boyz, this is UAL.

It's a show.
And whether any of us like trash talking or not, this sport is going nowhere on a professional level until the public can follow armwrestlers as "characters." Trash talking is the easy and cheap way to build characters but it's early yet. Over time characters can develop without relying on the boxing knock-off approach- but not if there isn't exposure. I don't know what other approach can be taken to get exposure at this point. Until there's a product, there can only be hype in order to sell the product.
We aren't the target audience. (I hope) Aside from what the UAL is doing, what else can they do at this point to promote the product? Look at Jake and Justin. In those three videos you already have character development. Jake plays the heel and Justin is the good old boy looking to do right for his family. That's compelling stuff, man. That will sell.
Maybe when things take off there can be a good-guy anti-hero who makes his name by being the one who condemns the trash talk. Then those of us with delicate sensibilities can follow that guy because he's the "good guy." And then those of us who hate trash talk will be the people falling for the schtick! Oh, the irony!
