There is no way I can even began to explain this in such a way for everyone to understand. I can't. It is a personal conviction I have had from 30 years. For anyone who knows my history, they are aware that I've always had a problem arm wrestling on the LORDs day, especially when I don't really have to. When Bill asked me if I was going to compete at UAL II, I said of course I want to defend my title. Since I've been training to beat anyone who gets in my way, especially Roman, I know I'm ready.
A couple of days after I agreed to compete, I found out the event is a 2 days and that I would armwrestler on Sunday. From that day until I called Bill I could not get rid of the pressing feelings. I tried really hard to convince myself it was okay, but I finally had to conclude with it better to honor the LORD.
Once I explained my dilemma with Bill Collins, he understood. Yes I'm aware of the TV coverage, the $1,000 for first, the new UAL uniform and everything that goes with competing, but I must rest in God's promises. The LORD said, ""He that honors me, I will honor".
I will battle my way to the top in the 155 to 175 lb open class on Saturday. I know it's not gong to be easy, in fact I think that class will have so many of the best pullers out there.
BTW, Carolyn brought to my attention, the movie "Chariots of Fire" was based on an Olympic Champion, Eric Liddell, who competed 1924 Summer Olympics had similar convictions. When you watch it, you will have a better understand of why I could not compete in the Supermatch. I heard my friend, Brandon Dye, will be battling against Roman, Luke and Anthony. I wish you the very best, he is an excellent choice, he truly deserves to be in this battle.
In spite of what many will say about my decision, I will honor Him who made me a world arm wrestling champion.
Your friend,
Allen Fisher
