Hello my friends,
On Thursday, May 10, 2012, I was having my last arm wrestling training with my friend, Reza, ten days prior to the Nationals that was being held in Reno Nevada. I was super excited because I was more than ready and thanks to Glenn Bland at Bland Solar and Air, Inc. he had agreed to fully sponsor me not only to the Nationals, but to the World Championships.
One of the first things we do is warm-up. One of the things we do is using suspension training using the Jungle Gym XT. Outside of the Power Band, suspension training is one of my favorite exercises for the Sport of Arm Wrestling and the Jungle Gen XT is one of the best! We have variety of working with movement angles position's speed and control using the Jungle Gym XT.
During the first part of the warm-up I heard a small snapping noise and within a second I had fallen back 5 feet on the decline hill in my backyard. I I hit the ground with such force that the impact caused me to see little green dots before my eyes, but thank God just for a few seconds. I landed on the left side of my scapula.
It looks like at this moment having just seen a doctor yesterday, that I may have torn my left rotator cuff and have a pectoral major rupture. it's quite painful and I have limited movement in trying to raise my arm or bring my shoulder forward.
This is a major setback for me as I have never been more ready for not only the National Championships but also to go on to the World's in Brazil.
But in my mind, as hard as it is to accept what I've done, the LORD has permitted this for reasons beyond my understanding. "All things work together for good to them who love God were called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 To be honest, sometimes we don't understand the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual realm of the "all things" that the LORD has promised his goodness. No doubt is a hard thing to go through and accept.
I plan is to get in touch with an orthopedist on Monday and look into this with an expert's advice.
Being the champion that I've become and am, it's hard for me to just lay down. In fact, when I got up from the ground and never talking to Reza and Carolyn, I wanted to just train with my right arm, but the wisely advised against it.
Deep down I want to take something to make me numb and go in win the National title, in my mind all I need is my right arm.
So many of my friends, who already know my situation, advised me not to cause more harm or extend the injury further, which could affect in a serious way my future.
Here is Saturday morning, as I write this, at this point, on Monday, I am going to see if arm wrestling with my right arm affects in any way the injury to my left shoulder. Trust me, if I feel that it causes discomfort and then I will humbly submit to the reality of injury and not compete in the Nationals.
I'll keep you all posted on any updates, so appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
