You know, I just realized this week that this is the 10th year of Get A Grip. We should try something different this year. How about ME winning for a change. Probably not. Sounded good on paper. Anyway, who do you guys think are going to win? Here's my predictions:
154 - Right (Mark Harrison) 154 - Left (Jeremy Fraley) 171 - Right (Derrick Housley) 171 - Left (Daniel Worley) 189 - Right (Jerry Cole) 189 - Left (Scot Horath) 209 - Right (James R)) 209 - Left (Alper Cosar) 231 - Right (Frank Hirst) 231 - Left (John Thornes) Supers - Right (Shawn Turner) Supers - Left (Big Mike Griffin)
Ladies - 67 kg Right - (Gina Upton) Ladies - 67 kg Left - (Gina Upton)
67+ Right (Cindy Looney) Sorry Best Westberry 67+ Left (Casey Martin) Sorry Best Westberry
171 Masters - Socrates F. 209 - Masters - Mike West Supers - Masters - Dave Randall

Hi Rick,
I would take Rivas over Harrison Rt and over Frayley Lt.
Battles over James R Rt
Also, Beth over Cindy!
I've never seen Thornes pull Lt, but I'll take him right over everyone.

It's hard to make predictions without knowing who all will be there. Last year, for example, Keith Powers showed up (very light, by the way) and won the 171s. Rick, can you throw some more names out there that will be competing with the guys you've mentioned? Anyone coming down from Wisconsin...Ohio...Pennsylvania...West Virginia...Tennessee...The New England States that could win these classes?
Without having any clue if these guys will be there, here are some guesses...
154 right - Jason Rivas 154 left - Chris Coletti (is he healthy?) 171 right - Kyle Lenoir 171 left - Danial Worley 189 right - Jerry Cole (he's pulling 189s rick?) 189 left - Shane Alger 209 right - James Battles 209 left - Alper Cosar 231 right - Ron Bath 231 left - Ron Bath Supers right - Dave Randall Supers left - Travis Bagent
Ladies 67 right - April Coe Ladies 67 left - April Coe
Ladies 67+ right - Beth Westberry Ladies 67+ left - Beth Westberry
171 masters - Ralph Smith 209 masters - Mike West Supers masters - Dave Randall

Shawn Turner will get a speeding and failure to wear his seatbelt ticket on the way down.

To be totally honest, I have not heard a great deal of the "Superstars" of our wonderful sport say that they are coming. (For all that ARE coming, I am not saying that you are not a "Superstar"). I have not heard from Bagent, Randall, Bath, Barbosa, Michael Todd, Selearis, etc, etc, etc. so I did not put them in my predictions. I know that the Arnold is next weekend and many of them don't want to pull that hard 1 week before that tournament. This will give many of the the "Soon to be Superstars" a little better chance to shine.

Unless my visitor for that weekend wants to stay for the whole tournament, I don't think I will be pulling. The 0-154 novice will be won by either Sina Sagatchi or Steve Bell. (Those are the two guys that I train)

Haven't heard from Thornes is a while..he was injured last year and hasn't returned to armwrestling ..Jerry Cole usually pulls 209 ...I thought Battles wasn't going to make it either...maybe I will get lucky..

Unless the people I am visiting in Raleigh for the weekend want to spend all day at the Armwrestling tournament with me and my 5year old daughter, I will not be armwrestling. Rick thanks for trying to get some sort of mega match set up for Left arm. I could have slipped away from the people I visiting for a half a day. Rick my Left arm feels great. If I could have pulled right, I would have been very surprised if I won. My right is not doing so good. Good luck to everyone. Wish I could be there.
