One is the most Liberal of all Senators, one is determined to have socialized health care ... On to the Obama bashing ;D LOL - it's as if the US doesn't have socialized medicine now. If you break your fingernail trying to sneak into the country and go to the emergency room, whom do you think pays for it? I found some recent comments by John McCain especially disturbing - while he refused to say anything about Obama attending a church for 20-years headed by an America-hating "reverend" (even chastised his fellow Republicans for talking about this), McCain jumped all over Obama for saying that the former Soviet Union was a far bigger threat to the US than Iran is. McCain’s comments betray a sense of historical ignorance that is simply mind-boggling. We were at a Cold War with the Russians for 44-years: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_WarDuring which time the Russians had what - 20,000 nuclear weapons? On the other hand, is there any solid evidence that Iran even has even ONE nuclear weapon - let alone the capacity to build one? The Russians did not have a death wish. That is why the mutual destruction threat worked for both of us. Iran on the other hand has no problem dieing. If they get a nuke they will use it and they really don't care if we nuke them back. It just makes martyrs of them and assures them a place with Allah. So while I don't necessarily agree with McCain I can see how he believes that right now they are our biggest threat.

plus the fact that Iran has said they would like to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. A war would almost certainly happen

I gotta agree with What Leonard said. A mentally unstable country is alot more dangerous than one with lots of weapons an common sense.

Let's not make the whole country of Iran out to be radicals. Most Iranians are good people that just want to live a good life. Their leader talks big but IMO he's not as crazy as our media wants to make him out to be. He simply knows he's getting under the skin of the American government. That fact that McCain thinks they're such a big threat, and that so many Americans actually believe this nonsense propaganda, really scares me. I guess we should go invade Iran next...

plus the fact that Iran has said they would like to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. A war would almost certainly happen Meanwhile, Israel has hundreds of nuclear weapons and nutty leaders that openly say they'll attack Iran if Iran continues to build nuclear plants. Yet nobody on this board says a peep about it. “If Iran continues its nuclear arms program - we will attack it,” Mofaz was quoted as saying. "Iran can also be wiped off the map." P.S. This nonsense stirred the pot so much on Friday that it caused a barrel of oil to go up $11 in one day. Thank you friendly neighbor Israel for that.

Israel can handle themselves. They don't need us to act as babysitter. Look at how capable big bad Israel is when talking smack to Iran. Israel is all grown up now. Time for them to take care of their own business.

Robert, no comment regarding the Israeli smack talk? Israel gets to go around saying they'll wipe other countries off the map (and, by the way, they actually have the means to do so) and it's okay?

Man I can't believe you guys. Iran said that Israel doesn't have the right to exist. You may say that the whole county is not bad but as long as a majority of the country believes in martyrdom and that dieing for Allah will get you to the promise land with X number of virgins, then they really don't care if we kill them as long as they die serving Allah. Israel is our only real ally in the region and we are suppose to not help them? Don't think so. I also agree with Israel that Iran should not be allowed to obtain a nuke so if it takes bombing them when they get close, then so be it. Don't blame the oil price problems on Israel either, we have agreed that our problems stem from A. we have lowered our own production B. We have not built any new refineries because of EPA restrictions C. Our dollar has dropped in value and therefor making gas more expensive. D. Our inability to seriously get some kind of other energy like Nuclear to add to our mix of energy sources.

You know what "a majority of the country" of Iran is right now? Young people, age 18-34...and on the verge of revolting against their government. BUT IF WE KEEP MAKING IT SEEM LIKE THE ENTIRE COUNTRY IS EVIL IT WILL ONLY UNITE THEM. And I don't care about the middle east. I don't care about Iran. I don't care about Israel. I don't care about having allies there. If Israel wants to be there so bad then let them defend themselves. They seem to do pretty well against Egypt and the Palistinian states. Why must we be their big brother? I still haven't heard a good answer to this question. As for gas, NONE of the factors you mentioned made the price of oil spike $11/barrel last friday. That was all Israel and their hate propaganda. If Syria had said such outrageous things we would've been denouncing them as a terrorist state. If Israel says it, it's alright. P.S. Regarding your (C) reason, you can thank the Federal Reserve for that. The UNCONSTITUTIONAL Federal Reserve that nobody ever wants to talk about.
