Your are very wrong with your math. I am shocked First off yes the USAA is a open national and as a new armwrestler you can enter on the first day Pro right and left and Novice right and left. If you win all 4 then you have 2 National titles. It slays me to see people talk about being a "National Novice Champion" there is no such thing IMNTBHO See Novice is not an National title it is just a novice class at the National Championship. Leonard, In regards to your pm reply to me, I am sorry that the Novice National Title is a sore subject for you & that your association started the Novice program long before AAA did it. However it was a category at a AAA National Championships and is acknowledged by them as such, Title and all.Plus I do not agree with your pm to me that it cheapens the title of being a National Champion, winning the Novice Title is not even close to winning the Open National Title there at the AAA!!! ( IMNTBHO ... as u like to say) Please feel free to ask any of the Men that won the AAA National title if a novice national title winner makes them feel like we took something away from them. I can't imagine it does , seems all those guys are pretty secure with themselves and how good it is to have the new guys to the sport have a stepping stone achievement for them to be proud of as well. You say that you know why AAA touts it as a "title", & that its to get more entries when their numbers were steadily dropping ... but to be perfectly honest it seems weird to me you would say that ... u guys have novice, amateur & pro right? Isn't that to create avenues of interest for pullers too? Your pm seemed to smell more of some sort of bitter rivalry then anything else .. to much info for little ol me to be honest. Yes, as you say ... the AAA can call and promote it as they wish and I feel for you and "ur thing" you have with the AAA that you cannot consider that as a National title ... BUT - seems to me its "just" your opinion. I for one am very proud to be lucky enough to be a... 2008 AAA Novice National Champion! If someone PM's you, why are you posting it in here and On the NAA thread to boot

Learnard posted his little dig on page #3 (on this thread)
I was going to defend myself here back then but choose to send a pm to him instead because I did not want to embarress a fellow puller that he was peppering with his comment as well.
Didnt want to type pm and post at same time so I killed 2 birds one stone.
I tried to be a civil as possible while getting my "View" across.
ps. I didnt post his pm ... just a thought from it or 2 ... not even close to the whole pm ... RIGHT Learnard ?

I got nothing to hide from in my PM but I won't bother wasting my time in PM's with you in the future. I answered your PM 5 days ago and no response until you did it on the public board. I have no problem telling you or anyone else my reasoning behind an post. You call my original post "peppering a fellow armwrestler" and that tells me how insecure you really are. It shouldn't matter a rat's butt on what I think about your so called "National" title. So enjoy ;D

A novice national champion isn't a true national champion. If I were to become a novice national champion and a few years from now won a national title in an open class (only 1 class, 1 arm), I wouldn't consider myself a 2 time national champion, I'd consider myself a 1 time national champ and a 1 time novice national champ which is different. If you become a novice national champ it's still novice, there's still tons of guys who are better than you. Tim, congrats on the title, I'm not knocking you I'm just saying what I believe. Right now I'd love to win a novice national title, but it's really nothing compared to winning an open national title. Josh you coming to Tahoe? Two points I would like to make. Winning a novice class does not make you the best novice. Just like winning a national championship does not make you the best in that class. I do believe Tahoe is tougher than the AAA's. It all just depends on who was in your class, the bracket you were dealt, etc. If and when I win my "novice" class at Tahoe next month, I will not consider my self a Novice National Champion...... I will be an Amateur. I agree, that would make you an amateur. That's a good way to look at it, good point. I'm also not at all concerned with being the best novice, as by next year hopefully I will out of the novices and will have higher goals. No I'm not going to Tahoe, that's too far and too expensive, but I will be at the Harley Pull, then I can see how I'll do in the amateur 175 lbs. class. Should be a good time, good luck at Tahoe! Josh, In regards to your comment "If you become a novice national champ it's still novice, there's still tons of guys who are better than you. " .. Agreed, just like if you won the OPEN. Until all AW feds are "Truly" united into ONE Fed and/or there is only ONE Nationals that year will your comment become NOT true & even then you still may be correct as there may be one or more people out there that could be better then a Champ but never choose to pull in a Tournament. I agree if you win an open nationals there are still guys better than you (unless you beat the best guy in the world in your class who's also at the nationals for example, if you were to beat Brzenk of Vazgen). But that's completely different, if you win a novice national there are literally tons of guys better, all pros in your weight class will beat you, if you win a national you're probably top 15 in your country in your weight. Not top 1000. It's a completely different level, that's what I was trying to say before.

If you PM me and have a dialog then have one instead of dragging the conversation into the main page. You wanted it so fine. You are not a National Champion. How can you be a National Champion when, if you don't compete again until the next one and you can't defend your "Title". Now you can be proud of winning the class, you should be but if you want to delude yourself in thinking that you are a National Champion then fine but don't ask me to agree with it. As for the competition between USAA and the AAA that has died down, heck Karen is on the USAF's board now. I don't have to agree with them on everything but I have nothing against them. Your chest pounding over this tells me that you are very insecure about this and needs some reinforcement. You know Tim you disappoint me. Guess that would matter if I knew you or respected you. I dont know you, and respect .. well, your not starting off too good.
If you PM me and have a dialog then have one instead of dragging the conversation into the main page. You wanted it so fine. The pm was for a reason already explained to you.
You are not a National Champion. Thats your opinion ... not the opion of AAA officials. Are you a official for the AAA? on the AAA board? If so then you all better get your $hit together and get on the same page, and quit F'ing us simple competitors up!
How can you be a National Champion when, if you don't compete again until the next one and you can't defend your "Title". Awesome rational you got there Leonard. Guess if I was an Olympic Champion (amateur) and then turn Pro and can't go back to defend my Olympic Championship status I should never be allowed to consider myself an Olympic title holder, ever. I'm sure there are plenty of case scenarios out there to draw upon. Not to mention team sports ... Little League Champions ... move up a level and obviously cant defend their titles.
Now you can be proud of winning the class, Thanks for allowing me that Leonard.
you should be but if you want to delude yourself in thinking that you are a National Champion then fine but don't ask me to agree with it. Again, fight it out with the AAA, not my battle. I just do what I'm TOLD. And BTW, I never asked you to AGREE with it .... I DISAGREED with you.
As for the competition between USAA and the AAA that has died down, heck Karen is on the USAF's board now. I don't have to agree with them on everything but I have nothing against them. Whatever you say there Leonard
Your chest pounding over this tells me that you are very insecure about this and needs some reinforcement. Just going by what I'm told and disagreeing with you. But it was very professional and decent the way for YOU TO HAVE BROUGHT THIS ALL UP.
