Thanks for those statistics... how did you know everybody's age? Most ranked pullers are members of either the Northeast board, the Canadian board, or the Ontario board. Most members list their age in their profile. For some of the ones whose age is not listed in their profile, I heard of their age or birth year at some time or another. For the few others, I estimated, so I may be off by a couple of years, but this would have little effect on the averages. In short, these averages are not exact, but they are very close. Another cool think to know for each of those stats, is when did each individual in each weight group start Armwrestling? IE: if you started at the same beginning age or time duration, are you on track to peak at the right age as the Champions did?

I was always told by this one guy I know that you hit your peak at about 35. It seems these stats support that. It gives me some hope, knowing that is 15 yrs away. That is why I am so amazed to see these guys Egin mentioned, especially Arsen. That guy amazes me!

As im sure that is a bit younger. I also think the young guys that Engin mentioned got good because they started so young. There bodys were still growing and compensating much much faster for the stress AW was putting on them. Plus in your early 20s you are at your best athletically, or close to it.

A question that is regularly asked about armwrestling is “At what age do you hit your armwrestling peak?” For those of you who like statistics, I took a look at the ages of the top 10 ranked pullers in North America in each of the classes ranked on In the Hook and calculated age averages: 154 Right – 31 years 154 Left – 29 years 176 Right – 40 years 176 Left – 34 years 198 Right – 35 years 198 Left – 34 years 220 Right – 37 years 220 Left – 37 years 242 Right – 36 years 242 Left – 36 years 243+ Right – 39 years 243+ Left – 37 years Average age for all right hand classes – 36 Average age for all left hand classes – 35 The youngest ranked pullers are in their late teens (Ethan Fritsche and Tom Dixon) and the oldest ranked puller is 60 (Crazy George). Simply based on this analysis, it seems that the average peak occurs in the mid to late 30s. Are there other sports where the average age of peak performance is at this stage in life, or later? In powerlifting its generally accepted that early to mid 30's is the strength peak. Most of the records seem to be set in that age range.

I think it would be more worthwhile to look at the age when these champs started pulling, and find the total time dedicated to the sport before achieving elite status.
I mean, I started last year (age 30.) If I hit my peak at age 35, my prospects are NOT good.
