So here is the scoop:
I had placed a bunch of calls in to the "Versus" television company and asked for them to consider airing an Armwrestling event "Super Match". I even offered to buy time on their network if need be to take the initial risk.
A few days have gone by since my last call and this morning I get a call from Rebecca at Versus. She says "We are not interested in Armwrestling, we are looking for "Action Sports" like basketball, football, fighting and so on"
I said are you kidding me? Have you ever even seen an Armwrestling match? She wouldnt even respond and just kept referring to Armwrestling not being an "Action Sport"! I wanted to reach across the phone and smack her upside her head!
Anyways - Screw Versus! I won't be watching their crap anymore.....

Wow, that is crazy... they obviously have never seen any footage of Travis....he's made for that station! (not slamming Travis...I'm a fan.) Someone send them a link to the Brzenk/Perron match at last year's Mike Gould Classic! The sad thing is they probably would air some broken-arm footage or that idiotic X-Arm crap.

Yeah I even offered to pay for the time and she said NO Thanks and had to rub it in one more time "Were looking for only Action Sports"!
X-Arm was silly and did more to hurt our sport when it comes to TV then Over the Top did... Every time I approach a network that's the first damn thing they bring up!
Some will, Some wont, So what, NEXT!

Have you tried Spike? At least they should know Allen Fisher from Manswers.
I actually wrote them a couple times asking them to take a look at the sport, but that was a few years ago.

Unfortunley its not for the average person who likes watching sports. It is for those of us who participate in it but for most people they don't understand whats involved from the set up to the match its self. in the 70's and 80's it was popular on Wide World of Sports once a year for what was then the World Championships in Petaluma. That was when men worked as loggers, and steel workers, and all the other physical labor jobs this country stood for. As a result more people enjoyed testing their arms against one another. And they enjoyed watching the best compete once a year. I'm not sure how you get that back.
