My goal is to ensure that TX State will one day be the tournament that officially ranks all TX pullers. As we continue to grow and show consistency each year, we should be able to accomplish this goal, together. It's going to take commitment from all competitors to prepare and show up(the most important factor). Consistency is required if we ever want a defined ranking system in TX. Everyone needs to ensure that there schedules are clear, year after year.

My initial thought would be to officially begin this year. TX State 2012 can "level set" initial ranking order. From there, those rankings can only change in TX tourneys; Europa, etc. in order to hold your rank, however, you must be present at TX State. In other words, if Lindley is ranked #1 at TX State 2012, but doesn't show up at Europa, and Robby wins Europa, Lindleys rank stands until or if he is knocked off at TX State 2013.
On another note, we will obviously have pullers from other states. The rankings only apply to TX resident pullers. So, if Brzenk shows, and beats Lindley, and Lindley takes 2nd, then he is still #1.
Disclaimer--in no way am I suggesting that this is the only way...it's only a suggestion. We need to be able to track rankings, in a simple way. Any other ideas out there?

if u are ranked 2nd and challenge the 1st place leader for ranks and win out side of the tournament and win u take that position hands down but you must have proof of some kind to make it legal by rank

Good point, Jerry...and I agree. However, it would be hard to track where all TX pullers are competing during the year....and, very difficult to report, update, verify and track. The last thing we want to do is set up a ranking system that changes 2, 3 or 4 times per year. Usually, rankings in all sports are updated 1 time per year, during a championship and/or playoff run. As of today, we don't have a consistent, verifiable, defined ranking system in TX, of which is easy to track and update.
Updating rankings at TX State each year would be the most defined, simple approach. There are good arguments that we should look at, but, for now, for those of us that want a ranking system, it would be simple, easy to verify and update.
We may graduate into a more complex system in the next few years.

Ok if u have a super match before the tournament and win but in the tournament u don't finish befor the guy u just bet in the super match does that mean u have the rank or he has the rank?

Good question. I'm only going with our "simplicity" approach on keeping up with the rankings. With a thousand different scenarios and hundreds of competitors, keeping it simple, at first, should be our goal. In that scenario, my first inclination would be to go with the results of the supermatch. I don't think we'll experience this scenario too often. If we do, it'll be up for discussion if some disagreement arises.

Working on the rankings....remember, to be ranked, you must compete at TX State. If you are a top-tier competitor, but did not compete, you'll be recognized as not being present, but will not be ranked.

Some placings are left blank for now because the 1st-3rd in those classes were not TX residents. I'm waiting for Karen to send the rest of the placings to determine rank.
