Quinn Don't quit you sissy!!! ;D JK
Really though, you have come a long way, the problem is you are in a class with a bunch of bad dudes and from what I have seen you are constantly pulling into their power. IMO you need to work on the place most of these giants have a weekness THEIR HAND/WRIST , it may be 3 or 4 more years before you can go into a hook with Dave Chaffee and give him a match, and you are not Jerry Cadoratte so the flop wrist press only puts you in a dangerous position. So train you hand wrist and back pressure like its the only weapon you've got, you will find that the other stuff will make gains to from people stopping you from getting to a top roll and turning you in. If you train for one specific move or attack area at least that area will be very good and then slowly change focus to YOUR weakness.........from watching you first hand this is my 2 cents

I would say daves advice is worth bout 50¢, instead of 2¢…He has helped me tremendously. I try to get him to giv me an evaluation of where im at & what i need to focus on every couple of months. Yea, i prob bug the $HIT out of, but he dont complain TOO much about it.....lol

wow!..didnt expect all this feedback..I appreciate every post and read everyone carefully..I'm still in the dark about my own strength (ex.) which arm is stronger and how its determined..I am naturally left handed but I think my right is stronger..I believe I asked Leonard one time at a tournament what arm did he think I was better at just by watching me and he said "Focus on your left"....apparently he seen that I was winning more with my left..but I feel stronger right..I do know for a fact that my right wrist is 2xs as strong as my left..should I focus on the arm with the stronger hand and wrist?

I never lost as an amatuer but I am still taking a$$ kickens in the opens. I train 5 days a week at 6 in the morning before work. It sucks but I feel good when I get wins on good pullers. When I get discouraged I just try to focus on a small step. Someone that beats you but its close. Focus on beating them the next tourney. Its sure is fun to hang out at the tourneys. Great people in this sport. EVEN PETE, I think

You should post what your doing for training. Are you charting gains? That's a big one for me. If I'm not keeping track of my gains I don't get better.

I bet there is a lot of guys Arm Wrestling right now that has had that thought cross there mind from time to time. I think of it every time I lose at a Tournament that I'm going to give it up. But I get home sleep it off and usually the next day I'm fine and thinking of ways I can get better.
On the Training thing, man I was training 6 days a week in the Gym taking 300 grams of Protein and I did that for about 6 Months and I had a Tournament here in Joplin when the Travel Channel was here and Crushed Bill Logston Right Handed and Shane Mclauphlin Left Handed. I won the Heavy Weight division and I was feeling really good about Arm Wrestling at the time.
But about 2 weeks after that Tournament I got my Right Arm Injured and couldn't do any lifting and my Left was tender as well so I laid off and didn't Pull for about 4 Months after that just did light weight and rehab type stuff. I went to the Top Roll Tournament thinking I had enough left over muscle power from when I was really lifting heavy to carry me and try to win the Tournament.
I WAS WRONG ! I won 1 Match and was 2 and out Right Handed and Left did better getting 4th.Dan Whittle and Chris Jossen "spelling" got me.
So the moral of the story is if you don't train and keep it up you will lose it. Bill Logston crushed me after the Tournament just fooling around but that proved how valuable hard training is when trying to compete with the Pro's.
I am confident that back in the gym for a few months and loads of Protein and cut my fat @ss back down to 198 I'll be ready to kick some but again.
So man just keep up the training and step it up and do all sorts of different routines and don't get stuck on 1 routine and IMO don't Arm Wrestle but once a Month with a bunch of Guys if your trying to get stronger total body wise because you will be to sore or potentially injured to go to the Gym and work out. I think in the 1st. 2 to 3 Years it is important to Arm Wrestle all the time but after your Tendons are Strengthened up then you can focus on other stuff. There is tons of ways and opinions on this but for me it's how I have to do it.

Hang tuff Jon, Rome wasnt built in a day bro...! I'm a newbie to AW'ing but have competed in many sports along the way. It takes years to master any new sport & you gotta look at your level of compettion as well... You've proby been pulling some monsters I bet!! No shame in losing to the best my brother..! I won my 1st tourny I entered novice, but constantly get my a$$ handed to me by the Pros... A wise man once told me(James R) better to lose to the best than win to the lower tier compettion.. Just my .02 bud! Dont give up & keep grinding bro!!!

Hang tough Jonathon. Focus on any progress that you notice and less on the loses. It's very rewarding to get a win on someone who's been kicking your a$$ from the start. You're better than you realize.
