Don't play Rob, you found time to hit up the scrapbooking too... You were there in your elastic waist jeans, turtleneck, and red wolf howling at the moon sweatshirt!
I armwrestle because I was told after back surgery that I should never powerlift again. That doctor verbally kicked me in the balls that day and tore out my heart. Armwrestling was something to do to fill the void. The AW community is full of sick-minded people who travel great distances, and stay in crappy roach motels just to hold another mans hand. I haven't had this much fun doing something so simple since I figured out what my special purpose is for...

i can understand why people like to hunt because it is a way for people who work hard to get away and just relax
everyone should workout and armwrestling makes it fun
not much is better than watching a good football game

Great rant as usual Rob!! I started armwrestling because all my strongman equipmen was frozen to the ground and I really sucked at armwrestling (still do) and wanted to improve. The reason I continue armwrestling is the comradery, friendship and competition.
As a sport I think it qualifies, it requires strength, skill and strategy! Unlike golf, darts or bowling which get waaaayy too much exposure it is truely a sport!!!
What is holding us back (like someone posted earlier) we got nothing to sell, no balls, no bats and no scrapbooks!! If you got a hand and a flat surface you can armwrestle! Granted you need a strap and a table to do it right(and a referee) but really we got s%&t to market here!!
I wouldn't change a thing cuz once too much money happens then (basketball) the fun and friendship goes and it becomes a business!

I don't like to watch football. I don't hunt. I don't fish. Not into NASCAR.
I love God. Family. Food. and Armwrestling....God Bless America
That is the simplicity of my life.

I agree with everything. The money I spend going to armwrestling events is only a fraction of what I spend to chase deer every year (smoked 2 of em today). It's just not anywhere near mainstream America's concious as being a sport. Most everyone that ask me about it either see's it as lame or caveman $hit. It's up to each one of us to show em' the light. I think the main reason the sport hasn't/may never take off into the mainstream is because of the nature of it. It's a very personal and ego crushing event to let another man grab your hand show you exactly how much stronger he is than you. No one want's their kids or family to view them as anything less that "the man". It takes a lot of nads to get up to a table for the first time and put yourself out there like that. The few that actually do try and get worked become even fewer that come back for more. It's wayyyy easier to just make excuses and walk away than it is to face reality head on and do something about it.
I have said it before, I think most of the guys that have been in the sport a while and are at a open puller level have type A personalities. They are the one's who took that ass whippin' and pushed on until they could start to serve em up themselves. For most that was no easy task and it takes a hardheaded / determined SOB to get to that level.

Great Post Mr. Russell. I've never heard anyone put the psychological aspect into words quite like that. I couldn't agree more.

I like strength sports, I like competing, and I need some kind of a goal to keep me in the gym. When I got bored with powerlifting after 12 years of competing I moved into armwrestling. Its a fun hobby and gives me something to work towards. ^^ This ;D

I armwrestle because of everything that goes into it. I love the training and competing like everyone else. Armwrestling gives me a reason to go to the gym and always gives me something to look forward to from competitions to practice every week with the team. I don't do it to please anyone outside of armwrestling. I have found that they either don't understand or don't want to understand. But the biggest reason I armwrestle is the people in the sport and my team that is like my second family. Because I know not everyone is blessed with good people around them like I am.
Btw I don't watch football, I think its pretty boring haha

The better you get, the more you find the many levels above you in strength and ability.....
The people at work who ask why, I let them feel how weak they are....most people have no idea, as I didn't when I went to my first tournament. That experience still drives me...how it must feel to reach the top of the WAF ranks!!!!
Oh, and the strength I obtain from arm wrestling makes my job easier.....HUGE benefit!
