IMO.... Over 225 it doesn't matter. I agree with this. Weight matters more the lighter you are. The difference between 130 and 140 is a lot bigger difference than, say 260-270, which I think doesn't matter at all. JMO Just FYI I compete at 154, but if I pull in a 0-165 class, I have never lost and made an excuse for it. I do think a 0-165 class at, say, ROTN, is much tougher than a 0-154 class, mainly because there are guys that would be in the 165's that couldn't/hardly ever make 154.

Good post guys... Agree w/ Rob & Josh!
I believe its more a matter of hand and frame size than weight... also the strength of the hand cannot be over-stated... Ive seen guys w/ smaller hands take the big-guys hand w/ technique, speed & strength!

Body composition + genetics + experience.
I think the best armwrestlers in the world are lean, have good genetics, and have experience in this sport.
You can do without one of the three above, but generally if you lack two or more, you're going to be amateur.

Of all of the topics ever on this board to respond back with "Go ask your mother...", this one has to take the top spot.

where size does matter is when you pull a man with equal strength and have the knowledge to use that body weight as a lever, assuming that you get the match on your side of the table as to whether you are short or tall both have advantages in certain areas and the trick is to force you opponent to play your game. Armrestling is just a game of physics and gravity

Yes, weight doesn't matter as much as you get heavier. I float between 220-230. I'm fine competing in a 199-242 weight class. Where as a 155-198 weight class is to big of a gap.(both 43lb gaps)
