I just don't know how to get to 5. Too many great armwrestlers get left out.
How do you determine the "best"? I believe John Brzenk is the best who ever lived, but if you go off of titles I'm not sure he has the top 5 number of titles.
Ron Bath is the same. One of the best of all time for sure, but I don't know where he comes down on titles. Which makes you wonder- is it really all about titles? John beat everyone, everywhere. He had to fly around the world to find someone who could give him a match.
I personally think Bink Sinks and Chad Silvers need to be discussed when you talk about who has been a force for the longest amount of time.

Seriously Trapper, Brzenk not on your list? Never mind that he beat Alexey (so did Travis). And Voevoda retired after about 6 years in the sport. Not even close to top 5. Any list that doesn't have Mr. Brzenk number 1 is delusional...fact.
Aside from high-level longevity, I would also require a legit (WAF or similar) world title to be considered as the best ever. Finally I think the ability to beat anybody else above you at any given time should count (i.e. well rounded) With that...
1. Brzenk 2-10. (in any order) Bath, Bagent, Patton, Cobra, Fisher, Silvers (too many WAF titles in multiple weights), Dean, Goodridge and Walker.
Then I would propose an "on deck" circle of;
1. Larratt (would still love to see WAF title) 2. Pushkar 3. Todd 4. Cyplenkov 5. Liliev/Bresnan
And a bright future list IMO (future world title contender, Americans);
1. Kindt 2. Hale 3. Fritsche 4. Logsdon
In short, there are a ton of great armwrestlers right now. I would honestly say that aside from the freaks (Brzenk, Bath), very few of the "best ever" could compete at the highest level today. Just like every sport, there is evolution in training and technique. Jim Brown was murder in the 60's, but I think he would be an average running back today because his size, speed and strength advantage is gone. JMHO

I've done the research, and John Brzenk is #1 when it comes to total number of major titles won (nationals, worlds, big cash pro tournaments). The other pullers mentioned in this thread have won many titles, but no is close to John.

Picking only 5 is way too hard.
But I'd probably pick: Brzenk Bath Cobra Fisher Patton
Has Engin been pulling 20?

Hi Eric, I was wondering if you could tell me, only because you said you did research on it. How many titles, national or big time tournaments, does Norm Devio have? I have always wanted to be able to quantify his achievements.
Thanks.

I've done the research for the top 50 armwrestlers listed on the Armwrestling History Channel. I will be researching the achievements of other great armwrestlers in the near future.
