Sounds to me like a lot of good things are happening in this thread. I love what you're putting together for Korea James. Good friend I pulled with many years ago in the midwest, Dwayne Hanel, I heard did the same thing going to Australia for the growth of the sport there. And Jason, what you're doing bringing in and growing new faces is great. I am doing the same thing here in Amarillo. Yes it's tough, but thankfully there are a growing number of pullers I believe with the passion for the sport as we have. Now this isn't to be mistaken with those who have a passion for the competition. There is a big difference. There are many pullers who are very competitive, love the action of the tournament. But to put the extra commitment to get into the event planning and hosting stage is a whole new level. It requires time, money, people and more. I am planning 3 events in 2013 here, and I have committed all of our events to raise money for local children's/ family charities. We raised money in May for Autism, and my upcoming Oct. Tournament of Champions will be benefitting Western Wishes. There may not be many of us up and coming promoters for events and the sport, but we are doing what it takes, one puller, one event, one charity, at a time. As we grow the sport with new faces, novice and kids, the bigger our state and national championship tourneys become. The bigger our Regional events. It starts in our communities, grows across the nation, eventually affecting our world presence even more. Let's grow and support the sport any way we can, a little or a lot. Just do something.

I have driven 800kms to armwrestle a few guys in a park, 170kms once every few months is not over the top ;D We have a guy who travels 2 hours to our trainings on a very regular basis, if its in your blood, you will do what you need to do to get the job done! All the best. Gudday mate, Come on, be honest....was that 800kms, one way linearly, or did you get lost driving around in circles for 800kms looking for this park? You know, men are kings of the road- they can't ask for directions. Never! ;D Sorry, but it's not realistic to drive 320kms every week along the R37/R36 (the deathroad- potholes, trucks, busses, kamekaze taxis, corrupt cops/municipalities, luckypacket lisences) every week for practice at the moment. Unless Mr Bruce Wayne borrows me his Bat Bike indefinitely. Of course for an event, you'll travel anywhere in the country. By the way, these "guys" in the park, were they wearing miniskirts and high heels by any chance? Just kidding, thanks for the encouragement, Brendan. Best of luck to you my friend.

Fundraising and doing something for the growth of the sport, something that you enjoy doing. I saw Terence Opperman did a public exhibition, pulled any and all for fundraising: ^ This kind of thing.

To everyone that responded, thanks for the support. Las, you may not realize it but you are in a position to start something great in your area. If people in your area do not know about organized armwrestling, you have a chance to show them. With Youtube and the many armwrestling sites they can see organized armwrestling events for themselves. Not everyone is going to respect it but think about this way: you do. There must be others like you. If they are willing to pull you on the hood of a truck or anywhere else and are having fun doing it, there is no reason why they wouldn't have fun training for it on a real table. You can put on an event in your area. Even if it is small, it could attract future training partners. You could start your own club and it can grow.

Las....melbourne to sydney..give or take 800kms, the reason I drove there? To aw guys like sam saffuri (a waf competitor in seniors x3) In this country quality aws are rare, I love aw...thats the story. I am not saying everyone can travel 2 hours one way per week, but once per month, to learn and exchange ides/experience is not a big ask. All depends on how much you want something I guess. James, im a huge fan and love what you are doing here for korea!

Thanks Brendan! You are absolutely right. It is something I often tell the kids I coach on my football team. If you want it bad enough, you will do it and what's more...you'll enjoy it!

Brendan, you’re right. If it is important to you, you WILL make time for it. If you’re in love with a woman you will drive 2 hours one way, spend 15 minutes with her just to see her face, and drive 2 hours back. That settles it; I will ask permission to start visiting the Lynx club in Polokwane on a monthly basis.
