The armwrestling competitors are required to be amateurs, and also cannot be on any NCAA sanctioned team. Everyone has armwrestled at one time or another from the Pope to the President, beginners and pros, athletes and non-athletes. It can be seen on and off most college campuses. The different thing about this show is the concept of team points. All competitors pull both right and left against each other. Points are awarded for each win and in the end the best male and female from each school face off in the bonus round against the best from the other school. Right or left arm is determined by a coin toss. The best puller may be pulling in the finals with their weaker arm to decide the match. If it's a split for each school, then we go to the stopwatch and see who pinned their opponent the fastest. As far as the "Grip N Rip" When taping the show, everyone has to stand in the right spot for the cameras and wait for cue from the producers. I am the only one on stage that is mic ed up with the production booth so "Grip it and Rip it" is the verbal cue to the competitors to move from spots on stage to the table and grip. It was a lot of fun making this show and all the competitors got fired up and brought the excitement for their schools. In this competition, the men and women competitors were represented equally with the same level of excitement and drama. Hopefully we get picked up and can expand the format to include more schools this fall. All the best,
Jim
