very very true.someone who makes 100 dollars by winning in a local tournament is considered as winning a pro event while all those great athletes like Ron Bath,Tzvetan,Babayev brothers,Roman,Zoloev,Liliev,Lubomir,Sharon,Pushkar,Taras and many more to count now, have competed the last WAF and-or EAF which are in general much harder than any other PRO events. Engin, I am upset that you did not mention my name.

BTW- why did NAL choose the same weekend as AAA Nationals? Kind of funky.... Because the "Shawn Ray Classic" is that weekend and thats when the tourny had to be done for the sponsers.

The USAA has a classification of an "Open" event where there is no prize money but all are welcome to participate such as State Championships. In the events such as Tahoe, TOC, Riverboat Rumble, Brawl for it All and others, where there are SPECIFIC classifications ie: Amateur, Pro, Masters etc., Athletes that have won $$ the day before or are recognized Pro's cannot enter the Amateur Divisions, just as those under 40 cannot enter the Masters Divisions. Personally I have always considered the AAA Nationals and the Unified Nationals as Open events. There are rare occasions when I am misled about a classification but this usually happens in the Novice classes. Sometimes you have to realize that someone that has been competing for years in the Pro divisions may not be classified as a recognized Pro because they have never placed in the top 3 of a Professional division. Also, if a person has won $100 in a "Bar Tournament", the USAA does not consider them a Professional. (This only if that person is not a recognized Pro) Chris Chandler & Devin Bair (just for example) will normally wrestle-up in heavier classes in the Open events to give those "less talented" the opportunity to win. There is always a possibility for debate BUT it is up to the Tournament Director as to who wrestles in what division. The USAA does its' best to make sure that only Amateurs are in the Amateur Divisions and Novice in the Novice divisions. Denise
