You do get to close your own fingers. The ref makes sure that no one bends their wrists during the setting of the fingers and once both grips are made the ref positions his hand on them and then says "GO". This is at least the way it was explained to me by the creator. I would have to watch the video to see if any of this is true, but I know Frank Hirst and Rob jr. have both said that is the way it was.

I would also like to see the video or watch it in person......just so I could learn how to do it and maybe pitch it to the AAA and get it incorporated into the rules.....

I dont have any experience with it but just from reading and watching videos I think this is a pretty good system. I think that instead of "Ready Go" it should be more along the lines of "are you ready?" (both competitors nod or say yes or whatever) "go. " Another way that i've seen it that I like was just as soon as the competitors were gripped up properly the ref would say "Don't move! Go" and I think that is probably the best way to go. Say something such as "Dont move" to let them know the match is about to start and then just say "Go" to start it.

its armwrestling... when a ref makes a bad call you cant fight it, you accept it and move on. just like this, if the ref says go...you must trust him to make the absolute most fairest start and then you wrestle after the go....the whole "are you ready, GO" takes too long and is time consuming...plus false starts can be easily done like this with wrestlers anticipating the first jump at the "GO". THIS SYSTEM IS FLAWLESS...ILL SAY IT AGAIN!!! THIS SYSTEM IS FLAWLESS!!! this system is a time savor, more TV and viewer friendly, less false starts or bad calls because everyone starts out fair...so whose fault is it that you guys arent used to the "GO" ? prime yourself for the GO! why use a system that is flawed when a less flawed system is available? GET USED TO IT! GOOD JOB TRAVIS FOR COMING UP WITH THIS!

I also agree, this tournament ran smoother than any tournament I've been to. Travis's formula is better for both the puller and the spectator.
