Who wrote that? And who is this Dennis? I personally can tear phone books also but nowhere near 50 in 3 minutes. If it's so easy why doesn't everyone keep breaking this so called joke of a record. I've ripped a Colorado Springs phone book which is around 2 inches but there is a trick to it just like with anything. I for one am still extremely impressed with Ed's record.

That's impressive stuff. I have tremendous respect for Mr. Dennis Rodgers after seeing that link. However I don't think that's any reason to knock Ed's accomplishment. Mr Rodgers didn't personally attack Ed like the person who wrote the article. Like I said before if it's so easy why don't more people challenge the record.

First off, what Ed did is very impressive, and everyone keeps says there is a trick to it, it's not a trick it's called technique. Sure there are lots of people who can tear phone books, but trying doing it at that pace for 3 minutes, then when you break the record you can tell everyone how easy it is.

I think what sparked the conversation was that the host of whatever the show was said that Dennis was a fruad.

I'm not sure if this is the same person but I found this on another board........ QUOTE( @ May 26 2006, 11:14 AM) "Big deal. Popping a few one inch phonebooks. Notice how when they don't "pop" he just throws them to the side, meaning he can't even really tear a one inch book. He had a bunch of nerve calling Dennis a fraud, when that's what this guy sees in a mirror. I've seen a ten year old girl with virtually no strength do what he did with about ten minutes coaching. What a joke. You want a challenge, ask this guy to tear a thick book with no tricks. Dennis tears books twice as thick with two fingers and no popping, let's see this clown do that. i myself have coached some girls into tearing a little book, this guy is a real joke. hand him one of Dennis' books and he would't know what to do with it. i would really like to see this guy and Dennis race, to lets say about 20 1'' books. Dennis will tear them grip 'n rip and this clown can pop them and i would put my money on Dennis without a doubt. or they both get one big book and Dennis will put oven mitts on and then we'll see this guy look like an idiot when he gets smoked." Gary, where did you find this post? I'd like to see video of Dennis doing some of his feats, one I'd really like to see is the skillet, he says he does them with his fingers does that mean he doesn't use his hands? I can roll skillets up, but I use my hands, just wondering.

They were talking about it on the gripboard. I'm not suggesting one guy is better than the other but found the posts interesting.
I saw Dennis perform last night at the AOBS dinner and he tore a fairly thick book with three fingers on each hand taped down. He used just his thumb and index without popping the book.

Its fairly easy to rip one phone book slowly without popping it. When your going for the world record.... pop those dang things and get as many as you can. I personally have seen Ed tear 1800 page phone books with ease. In my opinion, both Ed and Dennis are amazing people, doing amazing things.

mr gary brown - first of all - i have respect for the dennis guy - and if you think its so easy why dont you step up to the plate and put your money where your mouth is if it is so easy !! , obviosly you dont know what you are doin if you think they have to "pop" -- you must just have a problem with me , thats ok its your problem not mine . dennis rogers is a animal , he is doin stuff i wish i could do , but when it comes to this i am just doin it faster than him right now - thats the fact CLOWN!!! i have more respect for MIKE WEST comin after my record than dennis rogers even though he is stronger and can do more things like this than i probably will ever do .. p.s. its your problem , not mine !!!

Cool Ed, my stacks in the garage are getting smaller also, every night before garbage pick up day I fill 4 cans with torn books. I've even started the 'NO POPPING" way, a little slower, but it just makes my hands and wrist even stronger Maybe we can find some extra Denver books and try them ;D

MIKE - I AM LEARNJNG THE " NO POPPING " WAY AS WELL AS SOME OTHER DIFFERENT WAYS OF DOING THIS - I HAD ABOUT A 1 HOUR CONVERSATION WITH DENNIS ROGERS YESTERDAY - HE SEEMS TO BE A GREAT MAN WITH A GREAT ATTITUDE . AS FAR AS DENVER GOES , I AM NOT SURE IF I WILL BE THERE , STILL TRYING TO GET OVER INJURY , BUT I WILL BE IN CONN. IN SEPT. SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE TRAINING HARD - THAT MAKES ME TRAIN EVEN HARDER ,
