A State Legislature Passes Sweeping Abortion Ban Help us get 1,000,000 Names on the Petition to Governor Rounds! A bill that would ban nearly all abortions in South Dakota and spark a challenge to the U.S. Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision is heading to Governor Mike Rounds for his signature. Planned Parenthood, which operates the only clinic performing abortions in South Dakota, has pledged to challenge the measure in court if Gov. Rounds signs it into law. Gov. Rounds' signature would mark the first time since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion nationwide that a state legislature has passed such a sweeping ban. The bill, known as H.B. 1215, makes abortion illegal except to save the life of the mother. The bill was sponsored in the House by Rep. Roger Hunt, a Republican, and in the Senate by Sen. Julie Bartling, a Democrat. The bill states that "life begins at the time of conception ..." and that "under the Constitution of South Dakota, a pregnant mother and her unborn child ...each possess a natural and inalienable right to life." www.afa.net/abortionban.asp

Well I certainly have more than two brain cells so I hope I am allowed to respond........although freedom of speech does allow anyone to voice his or her opinion no matter how many brain cells they may or may not possess!
This is of course just my own opinion on this matter and I believe that everyone is entitled to thier own opinion but with that being said........I have to say that what South Dakota is doing is absolutely disgusting, why don't they also ban women from voting or maybe segregate whites from blacks again, how is it the governments right to tell a women what they can and cannot do with their own body and just because they ban legal abortion does not mean abortions won't still happen there, you will get all the crack pots out doing illegal abortions and putting women's lives in danger just like years ago before Roe vs. Wade.
Once again just my opinion!

Abortion is murder.
That child has rights as well. They are american citizens and if anyone wants to rip there rights away by murdering them then it is premeditated murder. and i support the death penalty.
this is what the apostle paul writes about the government responsibility to step in and protect that child at all costs.
Romans 13 But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

You mean that is your interpretation of what that passage means.........I may be wrong but no where does it say government responsibility.
How is the death penalty not murder.......

..I have to say that what South Dakota is doing is absolutely disgusting.........., how is it the governments right to tell a women what they can and cannot do with their own body ......Once again just my opinion! What right does a woman have to murder that child? Is it ok for a woman to throw her baby into the dryer? What should be done to her for punishment? when did murder become a womans freedom of choice? And you are saying what south dakota is doing is "disgusting"?...... interesting choice of words

When is abortion ok?
How about when A womans husband forces her to sell her body, she endes up getting pregnant on crack and then later in prison.....is it ok then?
If it it were ok to do so then Candice Maddox would not have won first place in the girls 8-10 yr old division this past weekend at my tourny.
How about your 14-17 years old and your pregnant and it isnt your fiances baby?
If it were ok then , Jesus Christ wouldnt have been born.

I was trying to give you base of that scripture and my point. But because you dont rust me ill post the rest of the passage.
Romans 13
1. Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4. For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. 5. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. 6. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. 7. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. 8. Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. 9. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 10. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. 11. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. 12. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 13. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
God says thou shalt not murder.
But in hiss law he also says on several occasions that the government has the right to excecute those who who break certain laws.
For further study of the governments role and what law is and what murder is please read the first five books of the bible.....tooo much to paste

All I am saying is that in my opinion Women and Men alike should have control over their own bodies.....I also feel that we are slowly giving our government way too much control over things that they don't belong in and that is scary. The Bible tells us what is correct and what is incorrect but God also gave us free will.......and far be it from any government to take away that right to free will. In the end it is God whom we have to face with our sins and He is the only one to judge us and forgive us for what we may have done during our time here on Earth....no one here on Earth has the right to judge us personally for what we as human beings have or have not done and no one is without sin........although I am not saying people go unpunished for breaking the laws our government has set forth because without law and order there would be chaos but I think there is a line and although it is a fine line it should not be crossed....just because someone can recite every passage from the Bible does not make them right or better than anyone else.
Although I do applaud you for your passion when it comes to this subject and and other matters having to do with your beliefs and religion, it is actually refreshing in this day and age when people are so wish washy and afraid to be politically incorrect, to see someone stand up for what they believe in.
I am not interested in debating this any further, all I am saying is I respect your opinion but I don't agree with it.
God Bless America and our freedom!

FIRST, before Roe v. Wade abortion was legal in 36 states....
I personally am for abortion EXCEPT in the 3rd term. Or that B.S. day before birth abortion, when they stick scissors into the babies brain stem to kill them and abort them. Any Dr. that could do that deserves Life...

If im not mistaken Bush enforced that limitation and put a ban on partial birth abortion.
But seriously Christian what is the difference in that and aborting 3 months after conception?
did you know a baby has a heart beat 18 days after conception? this is life of an individual is it not?

I am watching with my wife and little girl on TLC as we speak about conception and birth. When if I may ask does a child have rights? If not at conception then when? Simple question with just as simple of an answer. At conception. It is a living and growing human being so how can this be argued? Human is human no matter when!
The problem is our view of the womans rights are totally off base. It was the womans right to conceive. It is never a womans right to kill. Just stop and think about this... KILL. To kill an innocent child. It has nothing to do with RIGHTS. What a horrible way to defend murder with the word rights.
