Yes, truly a shame. He was one of the more entertaining wresters, and actually knew how to wrestle! In contrast to most of those guys out there today. Here's to ya, Chris!
I have to be careful which wrestlers I'm a fan of - I liked Benoit, and I also liked Curt Hennig (met him in the Mpls airport about 3 weeks before he committed suicide in 2001, I think it was) - two of them have now killed themselves...

This is true he didn't have to take his wife an child with him , but what was going threw his head at that time no one will know especially if drugs were involved .When you look at it 3 lives were lost an that is a tragedy in its own.And if drugs were the cause, in a way the true killer is still out there. The dealers are the people who need dealt with the harshest !!!!they are the ones that need Punished...for lives lost ,lives ruined!!!!

ATLANTA - Pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room, a law enforcement official close to the investigation told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
Authorities also said they are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths of Benoit, his wife and their 7-year-old son. Steroid abuse has been linked to depression, paranoia, and aggressive behavior or angry outbursts known as "roid rage."
