Taxes........
Tax his land, Tax his bed, Tax the table At which he's fed.
Tax his tractor, Tax his mule, Teach him taxes Are the rule.
Tax his cow, Tax his goat, Tax his pants, Tax his coat.
Tax his ties, Tax his shirt, Tax his work, Tax his dirt.
Tax his tobacco, Tax his drink, Tax him if he Tries to think.
Tax his cigars, Tax his beers, If he cries, then Tax his tears.
Tax his car, Tax his gas, Find other ways To tax his ass
Tax all he has Then let him know That you won't be done Till he has no dough.
When he screams and hollers, Then tax him some more, Tax him till He's good and sore.
Then tax his coffin , Tax his grave, Tax the sod in Which he's laid.
Put these words upon his tomb, " Taxes drove me to my doom..."
When he's gone, Do not relax, Its time to apply The inheritance tax.
Accounts Receivable Tax Building Permit Tax CDL license Tax Cigarette Tax Corporate Income Tax Dog License Tax Excise Taxes Federal Income Tax Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA) Fishing License Tax Food License Tax Fuel Permit Tax Gasoline Tax (42 cents per gallon) Gross Receipts Tax Hunting License Tax Inheritance Tax Inventory Tax IRS Interest Charges IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax) Liquor Tax Luxury Taxes Marriage License Tax Medicare Tax Personal Property Tax Property Tax Real Estate Tax Service Charge Tax Social Security Tax Road Usage Tax Sales Tax Recreational Vehicle Tax School Tax State Income Tax State Unemployment Tax (SUTA) Telephone Federal Excise Tax Telephone Federal Universal Service Fee Tax Telephone Federal, State and Local Surcharge Taxes Telephone Minimum Usage Surcharge Tax Telephone Recurring and Non-recurring Charges Tax Telephone State and Local Tax Telephone Usage Charge Tax Utility Taxes Vehicle License Registration Tax Vehicle Sales Tax Watercraft Registration Tax Well Permit Tax Workers Compensation Tax
STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What the hell happened? Can you spell "politicians!"
And I still have to "press 1" for English. That usually forwards me to someone in India.
I know it is time for a "TEA PARTY"

The problem is the estimated 300 billion in income taxes that are outstanding right now. If everyone just filed there taxes properly the entire country would have lower tax rates as a whole and instead of the few honest people and honest corporations now taking the blunt of the load.

I'm not sure that was the point...

I know that but my point was if income taxes were paid, and then the politicians applied them correctly a whole lot of problems would be solved and a lot less of these pissant taxes for everyone. Especially for the honest hard working legal american citizens

I think we spend around a third of our gross domestic product on national defense, half of our municipal taxes on education, a large chunk of our state budgets on infrastructure and social services, etc. We have a lot more stuff than we had 100 years ago. They had dirt roads and out houses. They had bad medical care. I wish the politicians were more honest as a whole. You would have a lot less wasteful spending. All in all, I'd rather live here today than 100 years ago, even with all the taxes.
Cute poem though.

Then again we do pay for bottled water. Dasasini and Aqaufina water is just tap water in a bottle. It is from a public source and we are dumb enough to pay Pepsi and Coke for it. There was something on google a few weeks ago about a Retail Water Bar in New York City selling "premium water" from all these regions of the world at the tune of $20-$50 a LITER. Some People are dumb enough to pay for these fancy bottles.
Taxes are ridiculous but think of the benefits that you receive every day that go unnoticed: every time you go on a state road or interstate highway, that was paid for by taxes. What about public education, etc. It's not fair to everyone because some pay more than they receive and others pay less but most people wouldn't want to get a bill in the mail for some new highway they are building in another state.
I agree though that the gov't needs to do a better job of managing its tax revenues.

How about our taxes going to LARGE farm owners. Between 03-05 Dave Letterman got $8,000 for his farm. Ted Turner, you know the billionaire over half a million. Good thing we're paying our taxes. Old Ted might have have a rough time getting by if he didn't get his share

Anthony,
Remind me to tell you some stories of some clients who left or people wanted to be clients but we wouldn't take. Its rediculous.
The sad thing is that the farmers who needed the releif didn't get as much as they did and the ones like them who don't need the credits got them.

JD, Since you are a CPA, could you help me understand what you said about paying taxes on time; I truly don't understand it. I don't see where paying your taxes on time has anything to do with validating stupid taxes, such as an Inheritance Tax, or Interest tax on already taxed interest. Whether we pay on time or not, we (the public) are taxed beyond the principle of benefiting the purposes, but instead we are taxed only to line the pockets of politicians and support the lazy and dependent. God knows me, and the rest of the legitamate workforce in this country have paid into something we'll never receive - Social Security. I know...the war is draining the tax surplus...

God knows me, and the rest of the legitamate workforce in this country have paid into something we'll never receive - Social Security. I know...the war is draining the tax surplus... Allen, First off haven't sat for the CPA yet, but I hope to soon! Second, I shouldn't have mentioned the "on time" as much as they just need to be paid by everyone who owes them, but you bring up many good points. The point about paying them on time was the fact that millions of dollars are spent just trying to collect money owed. (right now over 300 Billion) I can't even begin to explain how things have gotten so out of control. If everyone (and I mean every human working in the US) paid their share of income and payroll taxes, many things would be different, including a tremendous reduction in taxes each individual would have to pay. The problem is the honest hard working people have to suffer because we have to make up for all those who don't. That means all of the taxes inheritance and everything would be lower. There are many taxes I don't agree with, so I can't tell you why we have them, because I don't get it myself. I just prepare them by the laws set out before me. The exception in that is that many taxpreparers don't understand basis or exceptions to many of the taxes. Also many don't pay attention to the tax credits that are available. I do feel that there is a tremendous amount of double taxation going on and my father has been screaming that for years (he has been a CPA for 40 yrs). He and I have had many discussions end with the phrase, "but thats what the tax law says so thats what we have to do." Even though we both disagree with the tax or the amount of tax that has to be paid. Now the pocket lining and "you scratch my back i'll scrath yours" that goes on in DC is something I have no idea how to stop. You also bring up a great point about the SS, becuase if people claimed all the wages properly and paid the ss tax then there would be a lot more going into SS. Overall, even though a lot of the taxes is how I make a living, I agree that there are way to many and many that are just plain rediculous. Like I said before, right now the only thing I can do is prepare taxes by the laws I have to follow. I would be more than happy to help in any way I can to make sure you are minimizing your tax liabilities. Personally I think the money draining isn't just the war but it's in the space program.

There are a lot of things which are frivilous when it comes to spending our money, but the main problem I have is providing services, and such, for people who are not even citizens of this country. Look up the NAFTA Superhighway project and that will explain everything that benifits nothing for us. I agree with you though, JD.

Illegal alien pitbulls... THAT's what really really pisses me off!!!! Why isn't there a tax applied to them? They are taking legitimate fighting jobs away from legalized pitbulls who earn an honest living tearing each other's throats out. The illegals only want that cushy NFL-style fighting ring that's not available in soccer-worshiping countries... Wusses.
