Harry, I remember a match at a OH state sitdown tournament back in the '90's, Rob Stutz (OH) vs Mike Clark (Canada) that lasted about 15 1/2 minutes in the straps, that was after they had pulled a 5 minute match and slipped, I believe I have it on video, I'd have to search to find it........longest I'd ever seen

I'd like to hear about people's longest matches from this board........ My longest match was with Bernie Peters left hand in New Hampshire 2004. When I went back to check the video I saw we pulled for 1 minute and 30 seconds in the straps. It felt like longer, but to make matters worse I had to pull Josh Stark my very next match. Ouch. Longest match I've ever seen personally was with Chris Gangi and Jason B, in New Hampshire 2002. It was over three minutes of agony in the straps.

Barb Zalepa pulled up a class at the 1998 Worlds in Canada and had one that lasted over 10 min... I can't remember who her opponent was though.

My longest match i believe was against Walter Gerode in Lake Charles Louisiana last year. This is a huge beats of a man. i felt i had him in control for what seemed like an hour. he ended up causing me to foul out. Of course i may be wrong.

walter had another very long match against Staneway at the AAA 2001 Nats. I am not sure how long their match was, but I thought it was some time over 10 minutes. I also saw Svetan and Yoshinibu Kanai (sp?) pull a very long match in Tahoe several years ago. A Match that Yoshi ended up winning right before someone used a smelling salt to wake him back up ;D great match that was!

The 3 longest matches I have ever seen were Vepkvia and George at the Big Arm Classic, and Norm Devio and BIll Sinks at Cape Cod (1999 or 2000 not sure). Those two I saw in person. The longest match I saw on tape was the one where Gurode and Stanaway pulled for a long time. Many restarts.

It was over 14 min of just pulling I was the down ref in this match and was keeping time no strapes 1 foul each both arlready had a loss so could not quit to try and come back walter is a strong shoulder roller and Randy is a hard top roller and the just pulled their harts out. awsome match to see right at the table.

I have the match between Randy Stanaway and Walter Gurode on tape from the AAA 2001 Nationals. Steve Pettis is right, he was the down ref, and they pulled without stopping for just a little over 14 minutes. The match was stopped twice for a foul on each so grand total pulling with stops was about 17 minutes. Bert Whitfield and Dave Patton pulled years ago for I think it was for about 20 minutes or so - wasn't it Guy? "James Battles : Obviously you read the board, come on and join, Heather and Karen are members." What a recommendation Jim - can't pass that up now can ya ;D ;D ;D
