Just a question to all my brothers and sisters in arms. If you could only perform one exercise for armwrestling(other than pulling ofcourse) what would it be and why?? Just curious how many of us think alike...

i forgot to explain why i think pull ups would be the best exercise.if you perform ur pull ups in a right way and angle,it will help you to have a very solid beginning position for armwrestling, which s very important.then the rest of you need can be gained by armwrestling.

Thanks for the input guys. I feel the same way, but I have to admit that the preacher hammer curl with a thick handle comes in a very close second... I'm really curious what the BIG GUYS think.. I've always been amazed at the differences in the way the light weight guys train and the heavier ones...

HEY ENGIN, I RESEMBLE THAT REMARK !!!!!! ROPE CLIMBING IS GREAT TOO, FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO CAN. PERSONALLY, I'M WITH VIC ON THE THICK HANDLED DUMBELL. SIDE NOTE: I HAVE ALSO BEEN PINCH GRIPPING WEIGHT PLATES, IT HAS HELPED STRENGTHEN MY LITTLE FINGERS SO THEY STAY FLAT ON MY OPPONENTS HAND. m.a.d.

when i train,i really care to train my body(those that i need for armwrestling)at armwrestling angles.when i do pull ups it help my back,my hands, even my wrists and arms of course.its the best combo.staying your fingers flat, may not be enough as long as its not supported with your back and arm at the same time.but if your hands can stay flat while you still keep your angles good enough to pin ur opponents then u r succeed.once again,if u can pull urself at a flat place this will help u much better.because ur hand will be working at same time with the rest of your muscles that you really need.i know its hard to do for heavyweight guys:).joking again:)

Hey John,
Have to remember I'm only speaking for myself when I say: I feel I get the best pump by never going past the 90 degree angle with my arm, I also throw the weight down and try to catch it... Beats the hell out of my hand and forearm though but I really feel it works...

I would have to say I get more from hammer and preacher curls. I'm 6 foot tall and weigh 320 pounds, and I don't do a lot of pull ups! I can do them , just not a lot. I've been trying to do wide grip pull ups also. I also use a plate loader to work out my hands. Hey Big Mike, are you coming to Augusta? Hope to see you there. Michael "Animal "Griffin

I still have to say that once you use the Ross Arm-Wrestling Machine that Ed Jubbenville made years ago, you will see rapid gains on your side pressure & also on the way one would grip low on your foes hand. It is such a big part of many older pullers workouts throughout New England. Many pullers that do not compete anymore may have one so ask around. It is such a great device, but learning how to use it correctly is another story... ;D

Josh, You are deffinately right about the Ross but I was looking at exercises that everyone had access to.. Though the Ross is awesome and I deffinately made gains on it when we used it during practices not everyone has or can get ahold of one.. Come on Josh think back to the beginning what exercise did you concentrate on??? I know it's been awhile but I'm sure you remember!!! HEHEHE LMAO
