lol Did you hear, they (RIM) are trying to move Phoenix to Toronto and the NHL doesn't want that. They want to move the team to Hamilton, which is mostly Toronto fans and some Sabres fans. Neither Buffalo nor Toronto wants their market diluted by a 3rd team within a 90-minute drive, and I don't blame them. Besides, Hamilton is too small to support hockey. It's smaller than Winnipeg and Winnipeg struggled to support a pro team. Having a team in a city the size of Hamilton would be like putting a pro team in Syracuse, Lexington (KY), or Harrisburg (PA). These just aren't big enough markets to support a major pro sports team, especially not when you have two major markets in such close proximity. I say take 'em to Quebec City. Normally I might agree with this philosophy. But and this is a big but, do not confuse Canadian cities with American cities. Yes Winnipeg did not survive but the climate is different again. Toronto/Hamilton area is ripe for another team as our Hockey is as popular as your Football. People would kill to go to a Leafs game and pay up to $150 per ticket to sit so high up they watch it on the big screen, if they can get tickets. They drive to Buffalo when the Leafs play there so they can watch a game. I believe Hamilton can easily support a team and statistics have shown this for a number of years. Bettman just will not admit that it is impossible to get some markets going south of the border when it is not in the top 5 in popularity. ie Football, Baseball, Basketball etc. Up here it is Hockey, Baseball, with Basketball and Football around third.

Wow. It's great to see the Pens be rewarded for their great play. Of course the Caps definately looked off, but the Pens played well and the goalie finally faultered. Speaking of goalies, what a save by Fleury on Ovechkin. That was clutch. Next series will be very, very tough.

We're going to have to agree to disagree, but I wanted to rebutt your comments first. See, the thing is, the fans in the Hamilton area are already very set in their ways IMO. They're die-hard Leafs fans, for the most part. A new team might be fun as a novelty but the truth is they won't be the Leafs and there is no way they will ever match the popularity of the leafs...it'll kinda be like the L.A. Clippers and the L.A. Lakers. Maybe this new team in Hamilton will get some support, but I'd bet it won't be stronger than the support they already have in Phoenix or the support they'd get in plenty of other markets that don't have an NHL team right now...such as Quebec City, Indianapolis, and dare I even suggest Hartford. Hartford: metropolitan population 1 million Hamilton: metropolitan population 692,000 I just don't think either city would make a helluva lot of sense, to be honest with you. But hey, I guess we'll see.

Man I hate Leafs fans. HEY now. I agree with you! I don't think Hamilton is a good choice. Buffalo and Toronto are too close. Quebec City is a better choice BUT it's still too close to Montreal. If only Regina or Saskatoon were bigger. I think a regional team in the Prairies somewhere, would have a better shot than Hamilton.
