I'm not even going to try to begin to make a list of the top 20 pullers internationally as I don't know enough about the atheletes outside of the U.S., but I've been curious as to whom the board members would place in the top 20 world-wide. Let the debate begin!

Top 20 is tough for a world level. Though these are the guys I think are at the top of their weight class in the world.
143- Roman Tsindeliani 154- Engin Terzi 165-Cvetan Gashevski 176- Rustam Babyev 187- Golemanov 198- Todd Hutchings 220- Marcio Barbosa 242- Ferid Usmanov (maybe Erekle) 243+ Alexei Voevoda

Thank you for your reply, James! Is 143 the lightest class they have? I'm going to (Finally) start training, so I'm hoping for a class around 135.

Depends on what event you pull bro. Like the Nationals.. Unifieds will have 132's as well which is closer to your 135 than 143 is. the AAA Nationals will offer 138 lbs class. But most events are typically 154 and under for us light guys.

There's no way I could hang with the guys in the 154s, at least not for a very long time. I'm sure I'll be getting crushed in the 130s as it is for a few years.
But still good news that there are lighter classes.

Man... making a World top 20 would be almost impossible... but I think a safe top 2 would be:
1 - Voevoda 2 - Brzenk
Although I am sure that in the near future John will pull and beat Voevoda. The current ranking is based on the Zloty Tur alone.

how much prize money would it take to draw the best of the entire world and have there be no questions when it was all said and done...
has this happened yet or could it ever happen?

It could happen... but even then some might not show up.
How would you get ALL of the top guys... it would have to be a tournament where the prize money is significant enough to more than pay for the trip and have a few hun left over. It would take an "Over The Top" calibre tournament.

what if ARM TV offered a million dollars to the strongest arms on the planet. Placed ads in all of the major muscle and body building mags and got word around the world. No prize for second place. Once and for all......THE WINNER IS...
1 million
ofcourse a dream scenario but lets just say for fun...
could that draw them out???

How hard would you train for a million dollars?

You know... a million dollars would get you a lot of interest... but there is still a huge risk of placing 2nd or lower at that calibre of tournament and some might not take the risk. It would be better to make 4 weight classes... give 100,000 for first... then deivide the remaining 600,000 amongst 2nd - 5th. Maybe throw some to the left handed pullers. One thing is for sure... I would not want to be a ref.

Gary, do you plan on winning the lottery any time soon? I think every armwrestler at one time or another has thought to themselves..."if I ever win the lottery, I would run the biggest armwrestling tournament there ever was..." While you're trying to decide what it would take to bring the "best" of the world out.... PLEASE.... don't forget the ladies! (Just a side note, of course)... There are so many variables to creating the best "draw" in order to bring out the "world"... Ryan is right, you have to have some breakdown in weight classes. There's just so many top caliber armwrestlers, but the weight differences make such a difference in how the outcome would be. Perhaps have those weight divisions and then come up with some kind of an "overall" to find the best of the best, regardless of weight. Also, in this big money scenerio, you'd have to deal with the "juice vs. clean" issue... in all fairness of the question of "who's the best". Hey, maybe you could run a "clean" tournament, then an "anything goes" tournament! same money. Ryan has another great point... the refs! Wow... would have to hire some bodyguards for the refs... Can you imagine the pressure of an event with that kind of money on the line? Even if you have $50 grand on the line... that's a pretty nice payday for most and perhaps even more than a year's salary for some?! Keep on "dreaming", Gary... who knows... you may stumble onto someone who's got some money to toss "our" way!... but as I said... please don't forget the ladies! You've got to have some excitement at the tournament! Anyway... there's nothing wrong with having a fantasy or dreaming a little, right?? just my 2 cents..........

No Joseph, it is like Jeremy said, they have a 110 class, a 121 and a 132. There are a lot of good 132s out there. The best I have gripped up with is a guy named Tagir. I know he was the best 132 two years ago, I am not sure about now.
