Of course we can't trace back in time, but how would a match go between these two: Devon larratt at the top right handed in todays world vs alexey voevoda back in his prime, beating brzenk in zloty tour. Larratt absolutely dominates today's right hands competition and voevoda seemed like an unstoppable machine in 2004. I have an utmost respect for both of these competitors, both absolutely astonishing arm wrestlers, and I feel like this would be an incredible "dream match". What you guys think?

Larratt - probably sweeping it. Much like vs. Pushkar (lefty) but easier.

Im with Milne. I think Devon would probably win 5-1 I think Voevoda could get the first match but then he wouldn't be able to win anymore. This is Devon at his best from the last couple of years.

Hmm this is tough for me. 6 round format, Id say Larratt would win but after dropping a few early. 4-2.
I see it like Devon and Tim's match in Vegas, Devon in trouble early, then taking over after the second round or so.
Its tough to know how strong Voevoda really was with John not in the best shape and torn up from Taras, and people laying down to Voevoda.
I think the 248 pound Larratt that beat John, could win 6-0.

Lets not forget when Vovoeda beat Brzenk it was what 2004? AW seems to have changed alot since that time. I think Larratt would handle him rather easily.

"AW seems to have changed alot since that time." REALLY? UH, Ok? See this is the perfect question for those who have ACTUALLY PULLED both to answer, to bad there R and WERE MOMOS on this board, who basically turned those OFF to this board.... Maybe someone can go on FACKBOOK and ask one of them, John B and he can give u an OBJECTIVE OPINION on this topic...

I know I haven't been involved with arm-wrestling as much as I used to and as a result must have missed the "change". Could someone explain to me what, other than having new people join the sport, has changed. I'm concerned that since 2004 I've been arm-wreslting the wrong way. Maybe I could try to make a come back doing it the new way

I mean I get the Devon fan base and loyalty, but we have seen him lose a good deal too. When did voevoda lose?... Once to a very strong Travis .... The same Travis who became the best righty for a period of time and smoked Devon. I know everyone is bigger and stronger now, but nobody seemed close... Not John, or a big Travis, or a big girdner, or even the number 2 guy mike todd...who was what 280 .... Alexey posed with him, even let him get his shoulder on top of it... It was not even close.... Can devon say that ? Has alexey been flashed ? Shown weaknesses in areas like a high hard top roll... Like Devon ? Cruised through both super matches and tournament brackets ...
There is no arguing who is best today, but alexey showed no chink in his armor, Devon seems to have a few, I'd have to see him lose to believe it. From everything I saw that 2004 alexey was the best AW to date...IMO

I agree 100%

I know Devon, he's been on the scene for around for about 15-20 years armwrestling. A long time by any measure.
My question is, how long did Voevoda armwrestle? Tournaments, matches? I honestly am not 100% certain as I only became involved around 2003 just as Travis beat him in Ottawa. And then aside from a quick supermatch, he had left the scene for greener pastures.
Aside from Travis, John, Michael, who are some of the others he beat? He pulled a lot of tournaments, but not as many supermatches that I am aware of?
I'm just curious if we actually have enough 'data' to expose his weak links? However, Rob, you make a very compelling argument in terms of how a 2012 Larratt vs. a 2004 Voevoda would go.
