Everyone has had great ideas. I think any combination of them would be better than the average event. I don't see where you can go wrong, Giles. Nothing's perfect the first time out of the gate, and most times the things that sound great on paper don't pan out in real life when you try them. It's often the marginal ideas that really surprise you with how well they catch on.
Just run one and see what you like / don't like based on real life.
My suggestion would be to set the event out in the future so people can plan for it. It's a new idea that people will take a minute to warm up to, and then plan to get to.
I think this idea is well worth coordinating with somebody who is already getting a big draw and getting them to buy into this setup for an established event... even if they add it on as an extra class that everyone can jump into on top of the regular event, the way Round Robins have been happening.
If it catches on, then you can build a whole event on the format.

Rick, It’s a valid point that the bigger guy will have the advantage. But to Giles point that will be the then end (similar to an overall). Look at Travis’s recent event. I would say there were 4 class winners. Cobra 175 and below, Todd H 220 and below, Chaffee 242, and Don HW. These are not exact but close. So in my opinion it’s like an overall at the final four. Steven, I agree. I feel like Cobra did win the lightweight class. With that said, even COBRA couldn't hold a candle to the heavier guys. I'm old but looking at it from a newcomers eyes, I'm not going to be real excited about getting in a sport if the best I can probably ever do (on average) is to finish fourth. Moral victories do count for something but only go so far in my eyes. It WOULD be nice to win one every once in a while.

Rick my friend, You are missing the forrest because of the trees. You wouldn't have to pull M.T. Or anyone way bigger than u Until the very end of my tourney and by then, who gives a filp?, you're in the money. BTW, how do u ruin a sport or hobby that is already less legitimate and popular than CORNHOLE!? Cornhole. Good one! How about 4 classes. That will save time and make for good comp. How about starting in the refs grip. This will save time also. How about you take the top 2 from each class. Thats 8 pullers. Seed them lightest to heaviest just like Travis did. One round and you have 4 left. One more round and you have 2. One last round for the championship. Pay all 4 class winners PRIZE MONEY. Pay the top 4 in the OVERALL with a descending pay scale down to 4th. Only 8 people get paid and you are finished much faster.

Again, it's not gonna change everyone, I would be at this event it it was close but having said that I'm not going to stop promoting to novices because Giles wants to appeal to an audience,USAA and the like are not going to stop catering to everyone for the same reason, each tournament serves a different purpose, no reason to hit the panic button....just yet And if it did take off, I'm sure variations of it would spawn with the smaller pullers in mind.

I'm probably only gonna be starting out with $500 per arm to give out. Not really trying to attract any "big fish" with this trial event (would love to have some show up though) but to at least be able to pay the baddest dudes that show up for their time. We have enough good pullers within a 3hr radius to put on a hell of a show. The spectators will think for sure they are watching the baddest dudes on Earth.... The payout will look like this: $225 and a trophy $125 $75 $50 $25 So, 5th place at this one gets your entry fee back. After we sell tons of pizza and beer for this guy and have a crowd going crazy he will be offering up more cash and next time we'll be able to charge at the door to get in. The thing is, we have never been able to draw a crowd so, I'm want to put our show in front of a crowd. Were gonna start this one around 7pm. At 930 there's a well known band taking the stage and the place will be packed. By 10, those who want to hang out will be jamming and after pulling.

^^^this is the best way to have a crowd, they may not be there for AW, but they're going to see some. And you know it'll spark an interest in a handful of tough guys from the crowd. Theres a heavy population of country strong corn feed guys and the rotating young Coast Guard crowd through these parts.

Rick .. You don't understand your formula plays out exactly the same way as the weight seeded event.
I love corn hole... I am an Ohio legend... Literally... Never heard of it... Went to a bar in Erie after pulling Dave c. On my way out of town. We got swayed to stay after a football game and started playing for drinks... Then shots and money... I guess I had lady luck because my partner and I conldnt keep it from sinking that damn bag if it had Ebola virus... It was magnetized... Long story short... I was calling mommy to western union me money because I was running outta gas and money... By time I left I had plenty of money from corn hole... But did I go home?... No... Went to another bar same story... Drank for free 2 days straight...Was king...double teamed a 450 chick for food, gas and shelter.... Hahaha.... Maybe corn hole is evil, but it funded my trip as good as any AW event

Love the idea giles. Travis did one class in dublin and I was way more interested in watching that than reg classes. Two classes like 0-199, 200+ wont work u will have 10 guys at 200+ and 60 0-199. There just isn't that many heavy guys. I personally dont think weight has jack to do with it anyway. Id rather see classes by arm size: forearm + bicep

Exactly Adam. Fat don't mean strong. Like Snook said, "strong is strong".

Not 100% official yet, but it's looking like April 6th is gonna be the date. Place: Elizabeth City, NC (45mins from The Outer Banks) Probably gonna be a 6pm start time.
Pro "No Limits" Class - Double Elimination $25 entry fee each arm $500 Right, $500 left ($225, $125, $75, $50, $25) - will have pull offs for 5th and 3rd. ***Spectator friendly Rules*** - All pullers will pull the person closest to their weight each round (A or B side) - All matches will start in the Straps and refs will set the grip - NO more slips and and/or finger pulling! - The lighter puller at the table gets to choose where the match STARTS - Straight up or Hook All other basic rules apply (elbows down etc)
"Trophy Class" $20 per arm R & L 165, 199, 200+ - Straight to the Straps - Refs will set grip all other rules apply
Possibly 1 rh womens class also
There should be a good crowd of non-armwrestling spectators. Kids will be welcomed until 10pm. Good music, good food, "drinks" and a ton of GREAT pulling!

I hope this happens!
Sounds like it has the potential to be an awesome event.
Same setting and location as Quest with Arms a few years back right?

Any new idea looks interesting to me. And I read these comments too. But I don't see how the sport will grow with these new rules and this tournament. You want to make it simple, open? To keep the crowd happy? We are not monkeys to keep a drunk crow happy. WAF created rules and updates them every time to keep the progress of our sport. We cannot compete in WAF, so we need to create a new sport for us? Probably it can be good for someone who is in a driving distance. But not much. There is no growth in this idea. But competition may be attractive to a drunk crowd.
