Marvin, is going to try and see if he can get another sponsor, but it does not look good. Not sure how he will be able to pull this off in one day. If I from outside the Country, I would not get on a plane to come here
It's so sad that this garbage happens. It's event like this that are not good for our sport.
Robert Drenk, the UAL founder, maybe trying to put an event together. Knowing Robert and the drive he has, not to mention the love he has for our sport, he will make something happen. he said to watch The UAL facebook page for updates.
I know there will be lots of pullers in Vegas regardless. They will be looking to pull anyone.

If investors can back out so easily then Marvin, the NAL, and anyone involved/promoting this event should be held 100% liable and sued for any lost wages and expenses. If Marvin and the NAL/Bagent did not acquire solid contracts on the event it is their fault! BUT, you can't get blood from a turnip. This is SO disheartening!!!

NAL was contracted to run the weigh ins and the pulling. As a ref I am out a load of money on tickets for me and my girlfriend,lost wages from work ect. I feel your pain if this flops. My flights leaves in a few hours.

Like Robert said, Sorry for everyone who was supporting this event, I was in the birthing stage of this event and backed out for many reasons....
Robert and I have an idea to see what UAL can do, we'll be talking today about the objective....Keep your eye on the UAL face book and theual.com...

You know this sucks but was expected I think. I know I didn't personally buy into it. I was wanting to come BAD but made the decision not to due to something inside me just told me to skip this one. What really sucks and shows no class is that they waited this late to cancel it. You had to know a few days ago that this thing was about to fold. At least give the courtesy to not have the pullers waste their time flying into Vegas. Most can get back SOME of their money and use it for a later flight, but not if you are in the air! At LEAST could have saved the time off work. ANYBODY that messes with these guys (Marvin Cohen) in the future is CRAZY!!

I'll just stick to my guns in support of Bill Collins, Karen Bean, Leonard Harkless, Denise Wattles, Bob Brown, Elaine Blik etc.......... for keeping this sport & tournaments alive. At some point when it's "ALL" about the money somewhere down the road you piss off "ALOT" of people. I understand we all wanna see this sport take off to the next level, I do also. After this hiccup I think some of us take tournaments for granted. Case in point nobody is complaining about how many Nationals there is now, just be happy we have those tournaments plus others. Let's face it at the end of the "WE ALL WANNA PULL, RIGHT?" Just my two cents.

I have no info on this Marvin flop. I heard the rumor circulating on Facebook and was surprised it wasn't on the board. So I posted what I knew. Hats off to UAL and Drenk for trying to leap thru there ass to even attempt a crazy thing like pulling a tournament off in 3 days!!! If anyone can do it UAL can

Why are the competitors not basically requiring an event to be held in the same venue? If the venue was contracted for this event, the space is still slotted for an armwrestling event, so the least Marvin Cohen should do is hold the event there.
Why is anyone else trying to put something together when, as far as what I've seen, an official cancellation has not been posted anywhere.

Rumors come out and Allen posts that Marvin is trying to get another sponsor. As for the host hotel........who knows exactly what Marvin told them. Anyone that bought tickets to Vegas and now are shocked that it fell through.......just wasn't paying attention. This is exactly what Marvin does, it could be great or it could be a disaster and this time disaster struck. |
