I called bull**** from day 1. Did nobody else wonder why non of the half ass flyers that were posted never said sponsored by someone. Nobody is just gonna give away thousands of dollars for shi** n gigz. Way too many signs that pointed to scam. I dont feel sorry for anyone that spent money to fly out to this one. DOUBLE SIDED .....

My questioning too is also out of concern for the venue. As far as we know, a venue in Vegas is expecting an armwrestling event. I think it's great for anyone that is able to jump in to help, but with the armwrestlers first in mind, the venue second. Exactly. There is also the PPV angle. So, isn't there a hotel with a conference center / auditorium booked and won't there be a production company standing around looking for something to film? I assume both of the above entities required some kind of contractual payment up front, event sponsor be damned. That's got nothing to do with these people. Which is why I do not understand a few things: 1. The change in venue is going to hurt "armwrestling". The original slotted venue is expecting a turnout. When it does not happen, armwrestling takes the hit. 2. The change in weight classes is REALLY going to hurt the pullers. These guys & girls have been training and dieting for weeks to pull specific classes. Changing the weights at the last minute is just as bad as a change in the money.

Now is the time we need to thank Karen, Leonard, and Denise for the decades of work they've put in to run quality events and make sure our niche stays alive.

This armwrestling community never sises to amaze me.
1. We have not yet even heard that it is "officially" cancelled. But I agree, it sure does look that way. 2. Robert Drenk talks about possibly jumping in and putting on an event to help out.
And what do armwrestlers do. COMPLAIN about possibly the event moving and possibly different weight classes.
Are you kidding me? Yes, it would be nice to have same venue and weight classes BUT really if Robert does anything to help save this event he and Bill should get nothing but praise.
And who ever said the weight classes would change?
Hasn't it entered any ones mind that if the sponsors backed out, than possibly so did the venue, PPV and any one else involve in this event.
And the ONLY one at fault here is Marvin.

Bob,
you are 100% right! if Robert pulls this off he should receive nothing but gratitude regardless of any or every change. working hard for a weight class that changes (if it did) is way better than working hard to spend a weekend in Vegas hoping to practice....!

And the ONLY one at fault here is Marvin. Hello Bob..............the UAL Facebook states the weight classes would change. That in itself set off a whole new wildfire of texts, emails, and phone calls and TONS of folks are talking about now definitely not going. People felt their stomachs lurch earlier this morning with the tidbit that Allen Fisher put out there. Since then, Robert has stated he's trying to salvage the event. So everyone got their hopes up again. Now to see that the weight classes will be so different that those that were dieting to pull the classes that were advertised everyone is back in the "down funk". As for the venue - consideration should be given to them if at all possible. They too are out in the cold on this - clearing whatever schedule they may have had to fill the place with armwrestlers, scheduling extra staff to work, publicity they may have spent money on, etc. so why not help them out as well. They are there, they are scheduled, so what would be the point of going elsewhere? At this point, they'd probably cut off an arm to open the doors for an event. Hell I'd even take a guess that the venue most likely knows nothing about it. Why should they? Marvin has never posted one single word on this board or anywhere else about the event from day one so why would he contact the venue? That in itself should have been the first sign of something not kosher. Everyone deals with all the promoters all the time. Never do any of us have someone else solely speaking for us in advertising an event. Marvin is a member of this board yet he never said one word about an event he was supposedly hosting. First serious warning flag! It would be quite interesting if Robert pulls something together and Marvin's event - by some miracle - does take place!

As of 11am the event has not been cancelled. I was told to give that message out of FB and the MB, so people coming from outside the Country could choose whether they come to Vegas or not. I was up until 1:30am, trying to contact who I could. Robert Drenk & The UAL are trying to figure something out. I hope for the sake of all of us who have put out our hard earned $ and loss time from work and any other commitments someone happens to save this disaster. Is Marvin the Only one to blame, since the whole story is not know, I wouldn't say that. Any News I get will be here and FB.

There was always a risk here, we knew that. As a person that is adamant about organization I knew that the hit and miss info around these events was a precursor to potential problems. I went to the NJ event and got paid cash so for me this was a decent risk to take.
It is extremely unfortunate if this does not work out and I feel very bad for those that have spent money and travelled for this one if it does not pan out. I guess I will wait up until the last moment before my flight to get the latest details, if it looks bad, like no event at all.... Then I will take my losses on this one and stay home with my family.
