Vitor was triple sport training(tennis, mma, boxing) at the time and it was very hard for him to be the best at all three. Vitor is a great fighter and I would say he is still one of my all time idols in the sport. Walid Ismail will always be my favorite since he was a pure BJJ psycho.

Actually Vitor tested positive after the Pride USA event.
Nevada State Athletic Commission tests after events. California tests them just before and the results come back before they are allowed to fight.
Japan has never tested which I think is why a lot of good fighters jumoed ship.
Kevin Randleman just got caught providing a fake urine sample... fake in that it was either from a cadaver or a non-human source... but it sure was not his.
The first guy I heard of testing positive was Josh Barnett right after he beat Randy Couture for the UFC HW Title. That was several years ago.

Thanks for the info Ryan. I was wondering about Pride, cause it seems like alot of guys went over there from there former carriers in the UFC i.e. Don Fry, Mark Coleman, Kevin Randleman and a local guy from here in CO, Ron Waterman.
Ryan, are you still fighting as well as armwrestling?

Waterman just fought in Bodog Fight... a new promotion but it has a lot of money behind it.
I have not trained for fighting for a long while so I guess I am just a fan right now. I might get back into it some day if the circumstances allow.

Ryan what styling of fighting did you compete in? I fought in several Toughman Competitions (3 one min rounds 16 oz. gloves) starting when I was 19 until 2 years ago.

I trained and fought once in MMA then other priorities took over. My total time in the cage was 16 seconds... I won via TKO. I might get back into it once I move closer to Winnipeg where there is more training available.
... that and running 5k a day was not good for keeping my strength for armwrestling. I went from 335 to 290 in about 2 months.

Cro Cop and Silva fought only twice....The first time they met, Silva totally dominated Mirko, had him on the ground and totally controlled Mirko, but there were special rules in place and unless there was a decision or a submission by either of the fighters, the fight would be declared a draw...The second time the met, Mirko knocked Silva out with a kick to the head...Just the facts

I have not been able to follow any of the big fight organizations as of late did they have a Wanderlei Silva fight yet in the UFC? There is definitely a bigger pool of fighters in pride. But if i was to have one favorite it would have to be Kazushi Sakuraba ,just on the sheer fact that he is nuts and has taken the gracie clan down himself

W. Silva will likely never fightin the UFC... who now arguably has the bigger pool of fighters since buying the WFA and WEC.
Sakuraba jumped ship to K1 Heros and got a bad beating last fight.

Thanks Ryan but, I was refering to the fight that was set up this past summer by dana , chuck L. was supposed to fight Wand after he fought Sobral. I know Sakuraba might not be the best, but you gotta love his showmanship

Amedeo... Sorry but Mirko was not dominated by Silva in the first fight. HE actually broke 4 of Silvas' ribs in that fight. The rules were what the people wanted... Stand them up after a certain time on the ground and if not a KO then it was a draw. Those are the facts and if you would like a copy of the fight I would be happy to send it to you.

Craig... it was all hype and a ploy to get Wandy on American TV before Pride had their US show. They would never risk lettingtheir champ getting beat in a UFC ring.

Ryan, I just read that the Sakuraba fight was ruled a no-contest. Apparently Akiyama was oiled up. www.sherdog.com/news/articles.asp?n_id=6505
