Rick, I have worked the door at a lot of different different events through out the years and have never had to scrap over the money being collected. Hands on a few times but never throwing blows. When I promote boxing events I have 1 adult lady with 1-2 kids(they love to stamp hands) and one guy who stands back a few steps just for "moral support". The armwrestling events I've helped put on I always get the sponsors to support the event so we don't charge. So far we have had cash prizes. If you are going to charge get you a door crew (I always get volunteers) and you will safe yourself the drama. It is amazing the lack of integrity some people have that isn't even worth $5.00.

5 bucks is squat. Popcorn at a movie is more. Personally I have not time for whiners and people who try continually to beat the system or someone for personal gain. Local clubs in our area in Ontario hold some amazing tournaments and I choose not only to pay my entry fees with thanks, (all the hard work that goes into them), but I also try to sponsor a most sportsmanlike or something to help the organizer. We are lucky guys and gals take on the responsibility of organizing even small events, which are good training grounds. I realize not everyone can do this but c'mon 5 bucks. I've lost more than that in the wash.............

Christian, Mark or Andy Medak would make good door people! I would pay up! I would sneak by Christian. I'm pretty sure anyone who can't pay $5 needs to get bent. Movies are $10 a pop and only two hours long....we're talkin all day armwrestling. Help a brotther out and contribute to the cause...$5 is enough for Rick to break even. He doesn't get bar sponsorship and the Get a Grip is a great torney. How many torney's have kids armwrestling as large as Get a Grip...probably NONE. And whether you like it or not they are the future of this sport, and this is one of the only torney's you can get to see Kid's armwrestle in....

I say pay or don't attend. It is amazing how someone will complain about $5 but yet will spend more than that on a weekend drive to nowhere. I agree with most of the points here on the same perspective.
Rick, I would have no problem paying your fee; I would even pay more.

just tell the people the 5 bucks is for the comedian you have at intermission and then have hester stand on stage and tell everyone about the time he tasered himself in his living room. they will forget about the 5 bucks after laughing their asses off.

That wasn't me who tazed myself, that was someone else, but I will make a good story about someone else....perhaps portray myself as Moeller? Have you on stage dramatizing it. Yeah, that'll work. I like your idea!
