I am trying to get a tourney set up in Iowa and have the venue already taken care of, in fact the trophies are also already taken care of. My question is what exactly do I need to have in place as far as rules and regulations, refs, and I obviously need waivers of some sort correct? There hasnt been any serious armwrestling in the state for way too long and trying to get things stimulated again around here so people want to come to iowa and pull. Really decided the only way to make this sport bigger was to start promoting the sport and get the young guys involved and on to something to keep them out of trouble. I have always been more of a puller than a promoter ,but have an opportunity with a venue letting us pull there every other staurday to make it bigger than just workin out with local guys.

First you would need to decide what rules. I would suggest WAF rules as they are world wide. I posted them in a thread "WAF Rules". You could probably get a standard waiver from Either Leonard and Denise or Karen Bean. Next time you go to a tournament, grab an extra sign up sheet and copy it. Start with limited weight classes. Maybe Men 154, 176, 198, 198+ Ladies 132, 132+. Refs maybe a problem if there are not any near by. IMO you could have other armwrestlers near you learn to ref. Just be careful about "Dangerous Position." To hire and pay for travel expenses for qualified refs can be expensive.
Good Luck
