arent there fingernail rules in armwrestling?
ive seen them before but i notcie noone enforces this rule.
as i reffed this past tournament there was guy who nails were rediculously long. and he seemed to be deliberatly bunching his fingers in attempt to cut and stab his opponent. this kinda made me angry. because this has happend to me several times before to where i would walk away from the table bleeding.
i insist that i will make sure at weigh ins for our next event the will be nail clippers and i encourage all the other promoters to crack down on this rule.
There aint no tellin the diseases we could potentially spread this way.
its not sanitary and its not safe.

I agree with you Ryan, I wouldn't want someone's nail's digging into my hand. I didn't know there was a rule against long nails. What is the max. length allowed?

Copied from the WAF rules
The grip is palm to palm, grip at thumb, thumb knuckle must be visible. Gripped hands should be level on a plain at the forefingers. Free hand will grip the hand peg provided at the table edge. This arm may or may not touch the table top. Finger nails should be trimmed so as not to injure your opponent. Stickum/rosin/chalk are permitted.

No problem Jeramie, I deleted my post once I saw Leonard had posted the exact same thing. No need for 2 identical posts.. I only beat you by seconds ;D Too Funny................... ;D I also checked the Canadian Rules for the same thing and found this: COMPETITION B) Arm wrestlers will report to the table ready to compete. 1) They must have arms bared from the end of their fingers to 4 inches above the elbow. 2) Watches, rings, and support bandages are not permitted on the competing arm. 3) Shirt with large collars must be turned inward. 4) Hats must be removed and any long hair must be tied back. 5) Finger nails must be shortened to referees satisfaction. 6) Shoes or bare feet are permitted. 7) Chalk, rosin and stickum are permitted. Vaseline or any like substance that will cause slippage are not permitted. I) The grip will be a grip if thumb knuckles are showing on both hands. Grip can be either under or over the thumbnail. Competitors can squeeze as tightly as they wish as long as the other competitor can close his hand. Finger tips must be placed flatly on the back of their opponent's hand. You cannot dig your nails into the back of your opponent's hand in an attempt to inflict pain or injury.www.novascotiaarmwrestling.com/Referee/Fullrules.htm
