just heard a factoid that is quite disturbing. In 1970 GM was the largest employer in the United States and the average wage was 17.50. THATS 1970 in 2008, the largest employer is WalMart, and the average wage is 9.50 Holy buckets...what was the cost of living in the 70s? ?? versus today and the wage is almost halved.. we are in deep doo doo if we don't reverse that trend. Non union carpenters were getting 3.50 a hour here in Montana. Jimmy Carters inflation killed that. Oh well thats for off topic. ;D

Gas above $4? There's gas by me at $3.87! ;D
But seriously I just started going to tourney's this year and just go to ones less than 3 hours away. I would drive further if gas prices were lower. It definitely has an effect.

here is a nice little toy. I thought it was pretty cool if it was accurate. Not sure. All I saw was 3.99 for regular but when I ran it the tom thumbs stores claimed 3.90. I may check that out tomorrow. Until then everyone can see where to save on gas. Of course it is 2028 miles one way for me to Salt Lake so this will do me no good. I would also need like a throw away car as opposed to a throw away gun After a 4000 mile run I could probably count on spending more money on therapy and a good chiropractor or acupuncturist along with about a grand of car repairs . anyway have fun with it. gasprices.mapquest.com/

James its gotten to the point I look at all of your posts just because of your wit! Dont know where you come up with some of the stuff you say but it is enjoyable regardless! Gas is @ 3.76 here in Iowa so I guess I dont feel that bad now. Still looking to buy a car that runs on vegetable oil and just drive around to all the restaurants and beg for their used cooking oil.

I was up messing with the sprinkler system. hehe the button wasn't all the way in. I needed to mow the back anyway so hey I guess it might not be what I thought I wanted but apparently what I needed. We have a guy that is doing the vegetable oil thing here. I forget what the deal was but I think he was dealing with laws of what kind of storage facility and collection equipment he was required to have and it was costing him a bit of money he didn't count on. I guess I will wait until I hear if it all worked out for him. We actually could all be pretty comfortable right now if those tight butt Iraqis would just play ball. I saw in the news and being an ex-oilfield guy I could see where it was bubbling up through the ground and forming lakes of oil and they were running burn-offs which were doing nothing but plummeting black smoke into their atmosphere. They could be getting US assistance and doing contract deals right now for production . The entire country of Iraq would be living large if they chose to make every Iraqi an owner like walmart On the other hand it would make life reasonable for the rest of us dropping oil per barrel to about 75 or 80 bucks and we would possibly even see 2.50 a gallon or less. I guess they wouldn't want the capitalist pigs of the west to be comfortable though. No telling how long it would last. They might not have as much as they think and maybe it would go dry ...... not. Saudi seems to be doing OK. What makes me laugh about the whole thing is there could be underground flow with only what 300 miles distance between them. I think if they were sporting IQ,s even low 3 digit ones they could see that while they do nothing the well could be running dry from Kuwait production. Oh that would be a hoot. have that whole field dry up . At first they would probably say that we had infiltrated and dug a pipeline and hid it over night but then I guess they would have to look around when they didn't find any proof. In this world regardless of these fanatical ideas people are still going to find that cooperation is the winner just as it as been since the beginning of time. We will survive somehow but it would be a fitting end after helping a country if they had a real eye opener that cost them by not cooperating. That mapquest gas search was a real find . I think everyone will probably start planning trips with it to see what to expect in gas along the way. We pretty much found stations off the beaten path that were certainly cheaper than the Florida Turnpike when we went to West Palm. Christ Russakis has been enjoying some cheap gas. Hahaha does such a thing exist? It was 3.89 If memory serves me. It is that low around town here but I don't think it will be next week. I went to a BP on the way home out of convenience and because it wasnt a full fillup. As long as I have an internet connection I will be in search of ways to help people. I think that is what we all really want. To help people and get along. Top of the morning to you. I am going back to sleep ....ZzZzZz

so I am in Oregon right now. Drove up to visit family and will hit two tournaments while here. Driving to Yakima today for Jacob abbotts event. 3 hours there and back. then to willamina for Herman Mccoys tournament friday. (with a prius at 45 mpg) It is illegal to pump your own gas here. In fact they have attendants who do it for you. My question is this. How is it that gas is 50 cents cheaper here in Oregon than California YET... the overhead is higher to own a gas station up here. I can't imagine the fuel cost of shipping is that much more to get it to oregon than cali so what gives??? last night I saw no less than 4 guys running around pumping gas for people. even with minimum wage, that is 4 people at 8 hours a day...seven days a week. How is it that their gas is freaking cheaper up here? It's a conspiracy!!!

I will bet that if you look it up the state gas tax is higher in California and the taxes to own and maintain a gas station in California is higher also. Those taxes will be passed on to the consumer.
