This was a question I gave my High School kids today. Even though some of the kids can't vote due to age, they all jumped in with an answer.
Here's some highlights:
1. "I feel McCain is the better choice because of his stand (views) on Iraq and the troops." 9th grader.
2. "I'll vote for Obama because he his black and he understands what we need in today's world."
3. "McCain because my parents are voting for McCain."
4. "Obama because he was the better speaker the other night on T.V."
5. "McCain has a better understanding how this country is running." "I'll vote for him over Obama, but not Clinton."
6. "I'll like to see history with Obama, but when the party is over on Tuesday...he'll be lost come Day 1."

Carey, what do you teach? Do you really get into deep political discussions with your students?

Carey, what do you teach? Do you really get into deep political discussions with your students? I teach P.E. and personal fitness. The Personal Fitness make me teach 2 day of the week out of a book. The classroom gets boring when it the same grind every week. We might finish early some times and I open the class to current events to keep them off guard. Today we chatted about the president race. No I tend to stay away from topics like this one, but just wanted to find out what was in their heads. I found out that I learn something each day from my class and what is on their minds. Some days you'll learn something and others it turns into the Jerry Springer Show. Still alot of though. Am I worried about one of my students running home to momma and saying "Coach Nick talked politics and wants me to vote for McCain!"---Heck no I'm not because I don't preach I teach. It turned out to be a nice conversation and a good day.

Maybe we should let them vote too. It might improve the pool considering the involvement of the online news networks and their blatant campaigning to have Obama elected through massive adverts. After a while nobody cares anymore. Truth is in the end if Mr. Obama should not be the president then by his own action he will cost himself the position. They call that fate. No one or group has supreme power over anything. What will be will be. Here is some blasts from the pasts that once again will only sweeten the pockets of the news agencies. The media is truly the win win group. Stand and Deliver or Resign or be prosecuted. In these times I think it is pretty bold of both candidates to even want the job. Besides before it is over it could be the equivalent of a glorified babysitter. I think I can already hear the whiners lol. I wasn't talking about the school children either. It is easy to throw cold water on ideas and stand around procrastinating. On the other hand taking action or even visualizing the direction is something at some point that have to be displayed by the winner. We await instruction. Scarborough is the one person who has tagged this thing with any sense of reality. Maybe he will consider running. Someone will definitely have the job of breaking it off in Americas butt because gravity is a proven concept just as fusion is. The smell rises up and the people in the loft spray down with lysol. Regardless you can bet that it will still stink somewhere. Good Night
