Jake, whats a safe HP level for a stock 98 cobra?

stock hp levels should remain under the 450ish whp. The thing with the cobras of that year is the stock compression level is 10:1 versus the Gt of the same year at 9:1. So the tuning window is a little tighter and a little more prone to detonation. With a safe rich tune you can have many thousands of miles on that horsepower as long as you provide the right amount of fuel, effecient spark, and decent rings and seals. What kind of blower do you have. I like the Kenne bell but i think i will go with a single turbo

Vortech. Its tuned on the rich side with water/meth injection kicking on at 3psi. with it gradually increasing the amount up to full boost(8psi). My goal is to someday have everything rebuilt (drive train and blower), get my suspension up to par, and cruise around with about 650hp(what the blower is supposed to take) Of course with a 7 month old and me getting older, plus me being a penny pinching SOB(by choice) that may never happen.

very nice. I had an integra for awhile that had a vortech on it. I like the whistle at idle. Sounds like you are good to go. THat meth injection is good and cools the intake charge. Good luck with future setup

Jake, whats a safe HP level for a stock 98 cobra? That depends on who you talk to and what Dyno is measuring the HP, a 98 cobra will have a teksid aluminum block (built by the same peopel who manufacture ferrari blocks) the block itself they claim is good up to 1000hp, the stock crank some claim is good to the same others say less, the stock internals (rods and pistons) some claim 500hp and others 450hp, My brother built his own turbo kit running a GT35R and is planning on hitting 450whp with 8psi, should be getting dyno'ed the 16th. Today we just got the downpipe back from getting ceramic coated. Instead of ruining Jakes I will add some pics to a thread I started awhile back and link it here.. Any pictures? House, family, will do it. Plus I was running cam 2. $5 a gallon was costly. I have pics. Ill try to get some up. Not only that I was offered a good amount for it. I ended up buying a 2002 lightning which i airbagged, with 22's. a ton of custom body work.
