I just seen this and thought i would pass it along....has this started yet?
Unbelievable November 28, 2008 by armwrestling
In an unprecedented move, all the armwrestling promoters around the world, all organizations, have come together in unity. Starting January 1st, 2009, all promoters will charge $1.00 extra per entry and subsidize ArmTV.
The group of promoters met and a reliable leak reports that this will start with a 5 year test phase.
Although it is only a small gesture from the promoters it is a HUGE step. In an incestuous community that is often cannibalistic, with an archaic mentality, this step is enormous.
Gary Roberts has not made any official statements but rumors from the ArmTV camp say “this is exactly the kind of support that will allow Roberts to attend more tournaments and provide the greatest coverage of armwrestling from around the world.”
“Gary Roberts doesn’t just film, edit, and post matches, interviews and other armwrestling information on to the world wide web, he is the unofficial spokesman and liaison within the sport and to the outside world. This is not a choice anybody has made or a position that Gary has chosen, it is rather the by product of being the most world traveled armwrestling aficionado, puller, fan, and promoter that has EVER LIVED!
Supporting Roberts is the only choice the community has, anything else would be self sacrifice”

I saw that too and I had no problem with it whatsoever.
If they told me their is a 20 dollar ARMTV fee added on to the tournament fee I'd still pay it.

Gary - is this true or not?
Somebody pls tell us the facts......
Also my personal take on this is that $1 on top of every entry fee is nothing...it is well deserved in my eyes ...money well spent for promotion of armwrestling......Gary hits about 3 tourneys a month and each tourney has 100 pullers per say.... that is only $300 extra a month for Arm tv.......annualy $3600 (which in return i would expect Gary to be on Europe and/or Worlds every year) we need this for couple of reasons: We need to watch ARMTV to analyze the opponents......(armsports does a fantastic job too but can not hit as much tourney as gary does however internationally they have almost same amount of tourneys they recorded!!!interesting!) Also Armtv regardless you aggree or disagree is a plus for the sport in many aspects.....(promoting, new rookies can watch, people can get interested in AW....every other sport has a similar web site for videos and such so why not armwrestling?....list can go on...) I do not think Gary will not be rich unless he hits 1000 members plus.....expenses piles up as the members increase as demand gets more and more by the members.....and if he ever reaches 1000 members that is great and money earned at that time is well deserved.....just my 2 cents. thanks

Gary, Also would you be interested on filming an all russian (plus all eastern europe) armwrestling tourney this summer? PM me...... I think you need to diversify towards international aw as this is your ticket to expansion on your membership.......(europeans dont wanna watch a state fair or a local state tourney done in USA).....

I guess it would be cool if your really really into arm tv? But to add a fee for something you may not even use i think is silly..And this is just me but i did not get into this sport because of Arm TV...maybe there could be like a little can sitting next to promoters that says if you would like help support Arm TV please feel free to stick in a dollar or 2? LOL Would people really wanna pay more money on top of whatever you pay now? If you said yes why not just start sending Arm TV checks starting now!!! JMO

Shane, I see your point but this sport that you and I love did not born all out of nothing..... It is years of sacrificing of the previous armwrestlers and promoters......now on this era if we want to take it to the next level then it is our turn for sacrifices (relatively it is a small 1 dollar fee we are talking about)......I can not just armwrestle and not care about the future of this sport.....If I am competing today it is because someone somewhere in the past has paid their dues and I appreciate that......This sport might have been considered as a bar brawl (in many cases there is still this perception) but we have a chance to change and erase this....we have a chance to improve what previous armwrestlers have started back in the days......if this $1 going to help for this purpose - yes I will gladly give it......just like I give my entry fee to support the expenses for the tourney holder..... again this is my opinion and I respect yours and everybody else's......

Ok what are you saying the next level is? TV or what? Yea i do love this sport as most of us do! But I'm sorry if i just dont think Arm tv is the answer to our dreams? I'm not saying what Gary does is the wrong thing to do,But do you think giving arm tv an extra dollar for every event you go to helps the sport? Arm TV is no doubt the best place to go and watch armwrestling but only if your a member right? spectators do not wanna go to this site and pay to watch armwrestling? As cool as it is for some of you it is just not that big of a deal to the average person to go to arm tv to watch this stuff? My friends like to see me armwrestle but they dont wanna pay someone to watch ime or anyone else? Hell if your gonna charge the armwrestlers an extra dollar for a service they may not use would it be fair to charge the spectator and extra dollar to watch the event? Yea we need money to make the sport grow..but charging a extra dollar at events arm tv will be at would be BS...He makes money because of us! So maybe to help me grow in the sport i will need to be paid to be on arm tv! I need some money to get the some of these events Armwrestling will be around forever...I buy into this sport as much as the next guy,i have said this before that We dont have to invest into Arm TV for this sport to grow...there are more people than arm tv out there trying to keep this sport moving! This is kinda pointless anyways...we all already know this was not gonna happen,so lets drop it! I respect your opinion to Alper

I am not sure what the reasons behind the NAL Blog...i think it was supposed to be more like the Onion News...where it is just a Joke news or something. I don't know but I wasn't behind it.
alper, I made a decision to try and focus on armwrestling in the usa. trips abroad are really expensive and can take away from funds for us trips. I did go to armwars but it really put me behind financially. I will attempt to go over there but when it can be afforded.
I don't know what scotts budget is but he is definitely going abroad and that is awesome that he can do that. I wish we could more.
as far as arm tv being the answer.
you have to ask yourself what you want from the sport in terms of growing. if we put it in terms of something similar to our countries economy, the answer to grow the economy is to create jobs. I think the answer is the same for armwrestling. if jobs are created in the sport then the sport would grow.
I have my ideas and so does everyone else. the reason people get behind arm tv is because it is a business that is proving to work and grows no matter what day of the week it is or what time it is.
we could all be discussing business related to tournaments but they are limited in that they can only happen so many times a month, and the competitors that travel are limited. if we are talking about a business opportunity for the sport and we say there are 5000 armwrestlers in the country. will you ever get those 5000 armwrestlers to come to a tournament at once? This would be near impossible. But we probably could get 5000 armwrestlers to log on to a website.
back to this original post. I don't think this is a good idea. A better idea is to get a few major promoters on board to profit from the membership where they are invested in the growth and have a reason to promote arm tv.
just to clarify, I had nothing to do with this NAL blog.
