Hey Everyone, this is the first time Mid America Corp has put on an armwrestling tournament at their renaissance festivals. They are adding this type of event to their many other competitions, real live jousting (on horses in knight armour, etc.), long bow (archery), highland games, etc...I just talked to owner today, he plans on adding body building next year. This is a great tournament for first timers also with the "Greenhorn" division. It is realy a different type venue. However, armwrestling fits in the atmosphere. Hope to have a great turnout. Any questions, please contact me by either e-mail: dale1stsgt@aol.com or cell: 321-431-8843 (after 5 is usually best)

The 2009 Bay Area Renaissance Festival Florida Armwrestling Tournament
This was a great event and the armwrestlers demonstrated the true spirit of the sport. This was the first time Mid America included armwrestling to all of their world-class level competitions at their Renaissance Festivals. The competitors at this event were all class acts and exposed the sport of armwrestling as the best sportsmanship event to hundreds of people who never witnessed an organized armwrestling event. The President of Mid America Festivals is a real supporter of the sport and armwrestling now has become a permanent sporting event at their venues. The future of top-notch armwrestling competitions at a very fitting venue will be seen in the near future.
I believe, to have a genuinely successful tournament, you must have two important factors: 1. All-around great competitors and 2. Competent support work group. This tournament definitely had both. Special thanks go to Chuck Hoffman and John Wilson in being mentors to the beginner armwrestlers and the more experienced and assisting the tournament director in various areas. Along with those guys, I would like to mention Carl Bowers, all of them brought other participants and formed teams, making the event more exciting. “Props” goes to the “team”, Will Vicos (assistant judge, registration), Nick Vicos (setup crew chief, assistant bracket worker), Megan Rein (Bracket Chief, registration). These three young adults were the reason the tournament ran outstandingly smooth from registering the participants to flawless execution of the brackets. Job Well Done!
I would like to send out thanks to the main sponsors: Mid America Festivals, Crown Trophies and Budweiser American Ale (both of Tampa, FL).
