Beat Pete??? lol... Easy now... As much as people talk about Pete..the guy is actually a really good puller when he is training and practicing.. I am sure he is, but him saying it is sad that a teenager would enter a teens class is just assnine. Thats like telling a guy who is eligable for masters he shouldnt enter masters if he can pull with the opens class guys.

I figured that's the response I would get. Thanks Pete I was just thinking of a response that might have come from you... Seriously though he wants to pull those classes. He knows they are easy wins, he just wants to get some trophies, and show some of the other kids how much stronger they need to get to be on a level to compete at worlds. He is done with the teen class in a few months. He needs to get into the gym and start training, rather than coasting on natural strength.

No offense but I kinda see what Pete means after watching the Pull for the Hungry videos. None of those kids had anything for Tom. The guy who got 2nd pulled the 176 lbs. novice class. I can see where it would be fun to smash the kids, but once you beat a National Champion (Brent Rakers) wouldn't pulling kids just not be fun anymore (at regular tournaments)? It's not even practice for him. It would be like if John Brzenk pulled the Masters at a regular tournament. Sure he's allowed to but there's no point. JMO.
By the way TJ, you slowed down Joe Zinna a hell of a lot more than I did (just watched the Pull for the Hungry videos), I'm sure you'd have a chance at beating me even if we're both fresh.

No disrespect towards Tommy at all because I like the kid alot... BUT, with his talent... it does just seem like trophy hunting to pull the kids classes... and honestly, it somewhat takes away from what he can do in the opens... He is a great puller with TONS of potential to become even better.. he should focus on that IMHO... No offence meant at all here..

Jeremy I agree with you 100%, Although, I do not think it takes anything away from what he can do in the opens. He is young and he still has that stubborn youth with him. (So he is in fact trophy hunting as kids do) No offense taken, I disagree with the way he wants to train and when he pulls kids classes. I will always back his decisions though to keep him in the sport. For a very long time he was highly underestimated. Heck even until recently he was highly underestimated. The only reason anyone knows who he is now is because I try and promote him. Here is a great example, last years PFTH, nobody gave him the time of day, everybody told him he would get dominated by Ryan Clark, and Brent Rakers, etc... Nobody acted like they even knew him (Until AFTER he beat them all) Well I shouldn't say nobody, because there are only TWO people from south of here that have been decent and good people since we have been going to that tourny. Scott Fleming and Nick Zinna, those two guys are great and Tom has nothing but respect and high regards for those two guys. Nick has always seemed to take an interest in Tom since he was 15 and pulled for the Last warrior standing trophy. He does have tons of potential, he has made it this far on natural strength, he spends less time working out during the year than average guys spend in a month. He has been setting his goals and making plans (that are very difficult for him to adhear to from his lack of training discipline) He was originally wanting to try for a top 5 place at worlds this year in Opens, but decided to save money and go for a top 3 next year. No offense but I kinda see what Pete means after watching the Pull for the Hungry videos. None of those kids had anything for Tom. The guy who got 2nd pulled the 176 lbs. novice class. Josh seriously , we should pull, I would give you a 3-1 win over me in a best of 5 I f I were betting on it.

Well right now you've beaten me the only time we've pulled... I'm sure we'll get to pull sometime. I know where your strength is...

Well right now you've beaten me the only time we've pulled... I'm sure we'll get to pull sometime. I know where your strength is... You are getting serious about beating someone who you can already beat.. Here is exactly where my strength is... We went to the field house today and I benched 135 for 5 reps, 145 for 4 reps and 135 for 3 reps, I then did lat pull down 60 lbs for 10 reps, 80 for 7, 80 for 5, 145 for 2, then I alternated curling and tricep pull downs on the cable machine, I curled 70 for 8, 80 for 8 and 80 for 7, on the tricep I pulled down 70 for 10, 80 for 9 and 80 for 6, (Cable machines are not usually actual weight) Pretty weak if you ask me. First time in a gym for 2 years. I was glad to go because it got my brother in ther to lift as well, He hasnt been for about as long as I have. He benched 135 for 12, 225 for 9, and 295 for 5, His lat pull downs he did 155 for 6, 200 for 5, 220 for 4, and 300 for 2, cable curls he did 90 for 8, 110 for 5 and 125 for 6, tricep he did 80 for 8, 90 for 8 and 100 for 8, Josh don't expect a great match between us, YOu are from what I see a far better puller.

I use cable machines too. Our lat pulldown and bicep curl numbers are similar and you've got me on the triceps. Only thing I've got you on is the bench which doesn't mean much in AW. IF I'm better I am not FAR better.
