I have always thought a flash was where somebody wins so fast that the other guys arm is just a blur as it goes down to the pad. Like this (no disrespect to anybody in the video):
I would call a flash. Recently I was discussing with another armwrestler what a flash was, and he said a flash "is when a match is under 3-4 seconds and one guy has complete control the entire time".
So by his definition, this would be a flash:
What do you think?

I personally would have called this a slow flash, anything slower wouldn't be a flash (no disrespect):

None of those are a Flash. A Flash in my opinion is where a guy hits so fast that the other guy doesn't have time to react.
Let me explain: If you watch the Match at the Top Roll Tournament when Me and Bill Logston were going at it, not at the Fuel one but the one before that's on ARM TV or the one on You Tube, you'll see I Flash Bill and put him right over. I got called for an Elbow Foul but I still would have flashed him if I would of kept my Elbow on. Bill new what to expect the next go around and he was ready.
At this stage in my Arm Wrestling Bill is a better Puller than I am , but I am very fast and can on occasion Flash him . On a slow Pull bill hands me my butt every time FOR NOW ;D

It takes your muscles a certain period of time to fire to their capacity. In my opinion it is when you or your opponent can't "get it all together" before your or his initial hit, and the match is over in about a second. I think that it is a mental thing that you need to train to prevent, or it is from a lack of experience dealing with certain moves.
In my opinion there is a difference between being flashed and just being dominated by a superior opponent. When you are flashed, you walk away saying, "Wow! He was fast." You feel like if you could have just stopped his hit, you would have won the match or at least made it last awhile. When you just get dominated you walk away saying, "I need to get better if I am ever going to beat him."
I think 9 times out of 10, a "flash" will take place courtesy of the toproll. There may be a certain guy that is just too fast, and he will flash you every time. If that is the case, I think the only way to beat him is through strength... So that when you hit about 70% of your capacity, it is enough to stop him at his 100% that he gained in the same amount of time.
It's like a camera flash; you never had a chance to blink your eyes.

Good stuff, so it's pretty much like I thought, the losers arm is a blur as it goes down to the pad because it was so fast.

Well only on the go. If Yosef and I slow started and I held him there and all of a sudden I just slammed his Arm down , that would not be a flash in my opinion that would be a great hit leading to the win.
