I didn't know yet, that Big Jim Williams, the king of the bench press, was into armwrestling, but he was: www.bigjimwilliams.com/armwrestling.htmlIf any of you guys have some stories about him, I would like to hear them!

I remember the days when I was younger I would go to powerlifting meets. During intermissions they would armwrestle. My good friend Steve Austin, actually was a powerlifter before he became an armwrestler. I remember names like Dave Waddington, and Steve Wilson who also used to armwrestle! Incredible strongmen of their time!

The Guy that got me into armwrestling, Joe leonardis, knew Jim well...Pulled with him in the early 70s. Joe told me about Steve Stanaway, Al Turner, Roy Ridgely, Bob O'Leary, etc.....I had met Al, Bob and. of course Steve, and they all knew Joe...Joe pulled 165s back then.... Joe held the Worlds record bench in 1972 at 165lbs, 418lbs, clean...Did it at York, Pa..Came out of the audience, took off his shirt and did it in shoes and dress pants...He trained in his house, BY HIMSELF.
They also held armwrestling tournaments along with bodybuilding shows. Well at least here on the east coast..
Also, here on the east coast they would pull one class tournaments......Imagine that today with all the crybabies that have to pull someone 10-20lbs heavier then themselves..

Christian, that was the same way on Ohio- they held competitions with no weight class. It was an open tournement. They were fun to watch, as these huge powerlifters were very strong. There were no toprolls, they just hooked and powerpulled!
