Gary, I know another old school puller, YOU NEED to get an interview from.
Mr. (multiple time WAF Champ) and a guy who has been involved with the sport as long as ANYONE. Steve Stanaway.
65 years old, Salty as h3ll, just retired, and to this day, DO NOT PULL HIM IN THE STRAPS. BEAST in the straps @ 65 yrs!!!
I pull with him on occasion and recently went to the gym with him and had lunch with the guy about a month ago. And I got some bigtime armwrestling insight.
Everything from the Foundation of the WAF to AAA to Yukon Jack (he was the head referee in some of those old Yukon Jack videos), from Worlds to Dave Patton to Travis Bagent when he was a kid. Guy has some stories, TRUST ME.
I asked him if he would be OK to get an interview from ARMTV and he said he would do it.
He lives in Yorktown, VA. and his brother Randy, who also has been around for a long time, they still pull every week and I just got to say, for armwrestling information from a guy who has been involved with the sport at its deepest roots, look no further than Steve Stanaway. For armwrestling enthusiasts, it would be a must watch video.
I feel privileged to know the guy. And look, he holds nothing back and is a man and will tell you what he thinks, he is definately salty, if you know what i'm saying. Some others do, I'M SURE.
just a thought and paying my respects to him.

I told Gary along time ago to interview Steve...but I do not think he has the balls to let Steve talk...Sorry Gary..
He would definitely turn this board and the Armwrestling world upside down...
He has told me many things over the last couple of years...tons of good and bad stories
So please Gary do a interview with Mr. Stanaway it would be good for ARMTV...
oh yeah Do not pull him in the STRAPS!!!

I agree with everything Aaron said about Steve Stanaway and would like to add a few comments. In my book, Steve is one of the very finest arm wrestlers in the sport--past or present. He's won world and national titles on many occasions, and has beaten the best in the game including Al Turner, John Brzenk and many Russian, European and Asian champions. He's been arm wrestling since 1968 and still maintains a rigorous training routine at age 65. I remember pulling against him on several occasions from 1970-72. No one who I wrestled was as explosive or powerful. There's a lot of attention being paid to John Brzenk these days, and for good reason. To use a baseball metaphor, if John Brzenk is the "Babe Ruth" of arm wrestling, then Steve Stanaway would be the "Lou Gehrig" or "Ty Cobb" of the sport. He's that good. Jimmy Van

Steve probably thinks I have a problem with him but he's in for a shock when he reads this, because I actually have profound respect for him. He had some things to clarify with me at the Quest with Arms tourney and I had no problem with that. Nothing wrong with clarifying rules. Can't say I feel the same way about everyone who partook in that conversation, but I do respect Steve and agreed with everything he had to say. I will say that Aaron's use of the word 'salty' is very appropriate though.

Great post Aaron and very deserving. A pioneer of the sport and still very strong today; especially in the straps. He maybe the only armwrestler I know that has won either a worlds and or a nationals in five consecutive decades.
