Who is number one? Who really knows? What qualifies you to answer this question? How is it determined? How do you know it's the right way to determine it? Is there always someone better? If there is, then is there really a "real" number one?

It can't be an open statement... You have to set up some sort of a criteria. A set of rules and boundaries... a game for that moment in time and place ... what is a Tar heel

what is a Tar heel Tar Heel is a nickname applied to the state and inhabitants of North Carolina. "Tar Heel" is also the nickname of the University of North Carolina athletic teams, students, alumni, and fans. The exact etymology of the nickname is unknown, but most experts believe its roots come from the fact that tar, pitch and turpentine created from the vast pine forests were one of North Carolina's most important exports early in the state's history. Because the exact history of the term is unknown, many legends have developed to explain it. Many believe it to be a nickname given during the U.S. Civil War, because of the state's importance on the Confederate side, and the fact that the troops "stuck to their ranks like they had tar on their heels". A town in Bladen County, North Carolina, is also named Tar Heel. The term Tar Heel gained popularity during the civil war.

We were told in school that some of the rebel soldiers in the Civil War would put tar on the bottoms of their bare feet because, they were didn't have shoes.

With all due respect to the peers of this sport and the knowledge of certain individuals, I would like to propose an inquiry of the validity of the world ranking system of armwrestling. An "official" source that is recognized by a "uniform" view of all the organizations and it's board of directors. I see alot of divinity and inconsistency within all the different ranking systems and find it hard to execute a definitive conclusion to the question. Thanks

Engin terzi is very knowledgable but i think his ranking is based on somthing like no 1 can beet no2, and all the others on the list and no2 can beet no3 and so on. but if u rank those armwrestlers based on latest and internetional(euro, world, zloty) accomplisments DEVON should not be in that list .he beets jhon but he doesn't deserve to be ranked no1 in the world.let say that Denis Cyplenkov beets Roger Federer in a tennis match 6-0 6-0 -0 in a very respectble tour lets say wimbeldon it will not put Cyplenkov in no1 place in the world even if he was ranked before that no 20 in the world.Devon,Randall,Yoshinobu based on latest internetional accomplisments should not be in that list.

But no need to do all the speculations J.B is no1 and u have to count to 1000 and than ranked no2.

If there is, then is there really a "real" number one? Philosophy in armwrestling. Now that's funny. As a very wise man once said. "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but not their own facts" The fact is anyone can lose on any certain day under certain circumstances. So to determine who is #1 is only an opinion. Now on the other hand it is also a fact that at any given moment in time there has to be the best and there has to be the worst. So someone has to be #1 at that moment. More philosophy.

How would you appoint a board? What divinity and inconsistencies do you see in terms of world rankings?

engin u r 100% right i didnt think of that but i think that J.B accomplished more recently and he deserve some points on that. zloty is very important and its worth more point than a local supermatch.is there going to be someone who can face devon or john at Mike Gould's.zloty=best of the best in the world Mike Gould's=best of the best in canda.

Personally I believe that Engin is not only very accurate, but he also tries to be quite fair with his rankings.
John has had an amazing year,(like usual) without question he has accomplished much more than i have. no argument. I felt that there would be a chance (like many have said) that my ranking would slip due to Zloty (as Travis's did).
What i do know is that guys who do rankings - Engin, Eric, do a fantastic job, and there is an easy black and white way to change them... one on ones. That being said, there will allways be monsters in the shadows, some of the strongest men i have ever met... even for armwrestling don't go near the competition table ( reasons of family, religion, work, $$$, not caring to, etc)
on that note, i am very exited to face one of these monsters to come out of the shadows again soon, for sure at one point he was #1
I also very much look forward to my next one on one, perhaps John. When it happens I will be ready.
