I got home from a trip last night at 11:30pm, but the DVD had arrived. Needless to say, I stayed up to watch everything. IMO, it was nicely put together, and for non-armwrestlers, it should spark interest for sure. As an armwrestler, it left me wanting 4 more hours of footage. Especially about Brzenk's early life and how he became so damn good. They must have left out a part about a spaceship landing somewhere near Elgin, Ill 40 something years ago.
Thank you Sevan and Bessie for producing one of the best things an armwrestler could hope for-a way to convey the sport to our friends, family, and newcomers.

The movie was very well done. Alexey comes across as a genuinely good guy. I wish more time had been spent on Travis' training instead of just trying to make him the heel. I know that's his schtick and he created that, but there's a lot more going on than just schtick. Travis works as hard, or harder, than anyone and I wanted to see that. The Voevoda training was awesome. John makes for a very compelling character and I thought he came across very well on film. I'm very happy that this guy who has been a giant figure in our lives will get some credit outside of this sport. I can't think of a nicer person and it is awesome to see credit go to someone who is now, and always will be, a hero of mine for the rest of my life.
The special features really made the movie for me, though. It's awesome to see so many friends in a movie. That's something I think we will all be very proud of all of our lives as we show this movie to our kids and beyond. Dave Randall, Ron Bath, Johnny Walker, Cleve Dean. I'm really happy these guys got a spot in the special features. Man, how I wish more time could have been spent on Engin and RJ. I know the movie is "Pulling John" but those two guys are as inspirational as it gets.
I'd pay for the training outtakes on another DVD if Sevan made them available. It would be a shame to leave it all on the cutting room floor. Don't even edit it. Just burn the scraps on a DVD and I'll send you twenty bucks.

I agree it would almost be more interesting to non-armwrestlers. We have all seen a lot of the footage, there is no suspense.
Its still fun to watch though. Im gonna watch it with my wife and see what she thinks. She knows nothing about armwrestling or John Brzenk.
What I thought was strange was how his name was spelled three different ways, Brzenk, Brezenk and Breznk. Whats with that?

Looking at it as an person that has been "into" arm wrestling for several years now...the movie wasn't like OMG...it's sooooooo awesome. But only because we know what happens. But looking at it from a non participant i think the movie was almost perfect. Didn't show the boring stuff, like it shouldn't...and showed anything that would have made it interesting. It did seem a little rushed, and the movie was only just over an hour long. I also liked the ending a lot more than i thought I would becasue yes...John lost, BUT that gave him the motivation to stay in the sport because he had someone to look forward to beating. Now he has Devon. That's what makes John GREAT. Never ashamed to lose, always comes back to win it.
I agree with Mr Wilson that I would like the video outtakes especially of the training that they got to witness. THAT IS SOME VALUABLE INFO SEVAN AND NAVID!!!!! Lol. I too think the movie could've used more of the training of Travis and john. Voevoda's workouts were insane!! I know John doesn't believe to much in lifting weights, but they could've shown more of the things he did do besides the push-ups and chin ups...lol

I would like to see a Pulling John tournament. It would be a very good avenue for dvd sales and movie publicity.

I would like to see a Pulling John tournament. It would be a very good avenue for dvd sales and movie publicity. That is a great idea! Having just come from the Europa Show of Champions I think something like that would go over really big with that crowd. Armwrestling already gets a lot of attention from that crowd. If you used a few Europa shows to pump up the movie (as in get a booth) I think it would build interest. You never know what kind of alternate distribution you might find there. The movie might never get picked up by Touchstone but there's nothing wrong with moving a million units through GNC stores.

As far as that goes, why these folks have not sat down with Simon Berriochoa to learn how to bundle this with another product is beyond me. I'm not Simon's agent, but here's the deal. You could, A: Ask Simon's advice which you would get for free because he loves the sport, or B: Go pay Simon for his professional consulting on how to move media product for the low low price of $20k like the rest of the world would have to do. Holy Missed Opportunities, Batman!
This movie is not Joe Dirt. It simply isn't going to move a million copies on its own. But if you bundled the trailer on DVD with a unit of Myoplex the exposure would be huge.
There actually are people in this sport that do business on a large scale for a living. Nobody is forcing the PJ crew to take advantage of that but it is a shame that they aren't.

I also would be willing to pay the same amount I paid for the movie just for the raw footage...it may have no cinema value but but it would be priceless to the armwrestlers who were in it......I remember when they were filming P.J. travis put on a tourny in WV ....On the flyer it stated winners would get to be in the movie.....Those who know me in outside of just armwrestling would know I am a "Lazy " Armwrestler..... I never really trained I was just really strong and liked to Armwrestle.....probably why I never made it to the top Shelf.....but when they posted that tournament ....I dilligently trained my butt off for three months.....the only time ever.....except maybe a little for thunder bay in 98.....Never the less I dominated and won....guess what it wasnt in the movie....I know it is Pulling John not pulling everybody else.... so I did not expect it to see much of it .....but I did hope to see some of it.....My wish is to buy some of that footage....it was something I would have hoped would not be in a trash pile from a cutting room floor...Just food for thought.....If any of the other footage ever becomes available....The event in WV....John pulling the 100 people.....John Vs Todzilla...Superstar showdown...Etc Etc....I would be the first Customer Christopher

^^I agree with Chris. We got a taste of 2hrs. of the 600 that was taken. Not only that, but the raw stuff is more fun to watch IMO. I can't get enough of Travis. That cat makes me laugh. I would pay for it for sure. I would pay more than I payed for the movie.

The vast majority of every movie ends up on the cutting room floor. Christian might have some cause to feel the way he does. I did like seeing you in the movie, though, Christian. You came off real well I thought.
It was obviously shot on digital, so it's probably all on cassettes or even hard drives by this point. I can't imagine there being any real cost to selling the scraps. Especially when most of us would pay the same amount we did for the actual movie.

Got my movie and loved it. I would also pay for the other footage. I agree with John, they need to package this movie up with a good product used by armwrestlers over the years and sell it to all vendors not just a movie company. How about Advocare and Gary Roberts and Brent Rakers this maybe an avenue to pursue.

I still like it!!! I also told my boss it's a documentary not "Rocky 4"!! LOL!
