call me a sour critic. but i was not impressed with it as a film. Just my Humble Opinion.
Always nice to get a glimpse into the life of the legends.
But as a whole i thought it sucked.
The most impressive part was alexey lifting his whole body as if he were simply shifting the earths gravity.
And ofcourse neil pickups commentary makes it sound like people care about armwrestling. Which is an incredible talent.
I thought the Trailer was FAR more intense and interesting.
heck somebody has to be honest about this kind of thing.
I appreciate the efforts but waiting for more than 6 years through all the hype. I was expecting much more.
I thought Joshoua Tubbs "Living to Pull" was FAR better for the sport. A better Documentary. and Far more emotionally captivating and intense.
And he was a one man crew.
I couldnt tell you how many names were rolling on the credits of Pulling John

I might not have watched it and what's with the other guy who acted like an A$$?? (Travis)" I don't know about anyone else but this is FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!I'f you know Travis away from the table he is smart, funny, and a BLAST to be around. But get around a table and a camera he is a GIFTED a$$hole. And boy do I mean GIFTED!!!!!!!!! I'f Hollywood is scripting for a part needing an a-hole and they overlook Travis they are missing a potential Oscar award winner. All kidding aside Travis has done GREAT things for this sport and I HOPE that he is able compete and talk $hit for many years to come.

Ryan I'm not sure what you were expecting from this movie, but the fact its on film doesn't mean it has to be Hollywood. This was awesome to watch I loved seeing some of the guys I have met over the past few years put on such a stage and feel privileged to own a piece of armwrestling history! This is not Rocky it was what it was a documentary about John Brzenk a man who was the very best at what he does and men chasing him to over take his crown. And what he does just happens to be armwrestling. Im not sure if people were hoping this to be the movie that saves armwrestling or not but I think it was effective in delivering three things about armwrestling very well!
1. Armwrestling is a legit sport, loved and played by many people all over the world!
2. Armwrestling is very technical and there are athletes all around the world dedicating there lives to it.
3. Armwrestling can be a very exciting sport and that the man who ownes the title greatest ever is John Brzenk..
I also loved the ending and I enjoyed watching it over with the cometary. It would be cool if one day when they release another armwrestling video they can show a segment where the say"previously in the documentary pulling John we leave the film with Alexy over taking John" this is what he has acheived since...And BAM imagine the trailer with Denis Cyplenkov EH!! you thought Alexy was intimidating WHAT!!!!lol! I think you get my drift!

I thought John really should of exaggerated some of his lifts. He could of throw in a few 'incredible' gym lifts to raise his persona.

I thought John really should of exaggerated some of his lifts. He could of throw in a few 'incredible' gym lifts to raise his persona. Which is exactly why you don't get it. I'll take it a step further. The fact that John has never lied about some incredible lift is exactly why he is revered in this sport. Integrity counts, Sam. It really does. I know you don't really get an opportunity to be a part of the sport, but everyone who is a part of the community knows you can be a lousy armwrestler and people still love you. Talent only counts on the table. But nobody tolerates a bullsh***er.

I thought the movie was great, I was in a great deal of the footage that was cut also, but we have to remember that the footage had to be a marketable commodity to the public. to me the movie brought a whole new and more accurate view of us as pullers rather than Bull Hurley and Lincoln Hawks while maintaining the drama and buildup most people look to see in a production. As far as the persona of John, no disrespect Scott but John will probably go down as being the best puller of all time. Why would he feel the need to increase his persona!

There was one trailer where Ron, Matt Girdner, Marcio, Yoshi, Alexey, Travis, and Dave Randall were all talking about John and wanting to beat him - I thought that was awesome - Ron and Matt went to Zloty and they both pulled John there... not shown... I just feel like if the movie had been longer it would have been better, besides the end, the only time we get to see John compete was at the beginning. I thought we'd see more "action", the back stories were great, but to me this was an informational film. Also the ending made Voevoda seem god-like (they had to slow down Alexey beating John in the straps to make it seem longer, and I doubt any non-armwrestlers will realize how much weaker John was because he cut weight).
All this is my opinion of course and it was a good film, but did not live up to it's name... I am willing to bet there was some footage in the 600 hours that was cut that was really awesome.
My favorite parts of the actual film (not special features) was the scenes of Alexey training, the opening scene where they announce John at the best ever, John telling his back-story, and the WAF Worlds scenes. And of course Neil commentating.

i soon will order the Movie,so i have not watched it yet.i only know one thing that anyone who criticises this movie WOULD DIE TO BE A MAIN PART OF IT with John,Travis and Voevoda.i am not a part of the movie even though i was gonna be part of it, as planned at the beginning and i would be so proud if i was (it was gonna be about 10 or 12 best athletes or something like that).i am still so proud of this documentary that represants our sport ,the greatest armwrestler ever and his toughest opponents (at the highest level ever).i really doubt that the producers received any satisfying money back for their works (i will not be surprised if they are even or lost some money).i am thankful to anyone who have been working hard for this movie!
people stones only the trees which bear fruit! its time for armwrestlers to be proud, and thank to people who made this documentary about the best armwrestler ever! it is PULLING JOHN,so my satisfaction is up to John's satisfaction as he is the reason of this movie. armwrestling would not be as exciting as how its now, without John Brzenk. we are really lucky to have such a special individual in our sport! once again,i only care about what John feels about the movie because i believe that armwrestling world owes him a lot.these are my opinions and i understand if anyone disagrees with me.
