before discussing like this i would like to know from those who are against warmups : 1. are u talking about a half an hour warm ups with running and heavy movements which take the athlets to sweating and breathlessness ?
2. are u straight going to the table after 7-10days complete rest of exercises before the competition? or are u doing mild flexions lasting few minutes before competition?
this forum is read by many beginners. so they need to have a clear picture of what is discussed.
imo lower body warmups alone will drain ur arms and ur power will decrease to pull after 100 free wt squats if u do[as someone has said before in some other part of this forum.]

As long as you train smart, I agree with Devon L. No need to waste.

My father is in his 50's and plays ice hockey. He went to the doctor about a sports related injury. The doctor inquired as to if he was stretching before playing. He said yes. The doctor proceeded to tell him that stretching before is believed to cause some injuries that wouldn't otherwise occur if one didn't stretch. He then suggested studies are showing you're better off to stretch after then before. Not preaching this as truth but interesting none the less. that is also what i am told by a doctor who sure knows what he is talking about.warm up is good as long as we are not tiring ourselves (esspecially if your strategy is an explosive hit).

I personally have to warm up for a very LONG time to help "Tighten up" so to speak. I will pull very lightly and very slowly keeping constant pressure until I start to tire just a little bit. I then quit and wait a few minutes and do it again. I will have to do this 5 or 6 times to get warm. Until I do I feel like an even bigger girl than usual. I am 43 years old and have had major elbow surgery too so I think I may be different from others. It's weird, 9 out of 10 nights I have to do this. Some nights I can walk in (Roll in, excuse me) and do it once and can be ready to go. Those are the nights that the junk talking starts early !! I can never figure out what causes this to happen. If I did I would do it every night. There is no rhyme or reason to it that I can figure. I guess everybody and every night is different. Just warm up until you feel like you can "Let er rip" without something hurting and I think that is good enough.
