With broken heart, I post this.
Sadly, my friend Bert Whitfield's time with all of us is gone. Bert passed last night.
Details of funeral arrangements will follow from either myself of Ron Bath.
For those of you who have known and loved him, we all are suffering a huge loss today.
For those of you who never had the privilege of knowing him, you have missed a wonderful human being.

DAMN, DAMN, DAMN. Just the other day is Alabama I was talking to a few people wondering how Bert was doing and why he wasn't there. This is horrible news. Anyone that knew Bert knew he was a fantastic guy and an icon in this sport. We had the pleasure of meeting some of Bert's family at the North Georgia tournament in 08. My heart goes out to the Whitfield family as well as all of the pullers in Georgia that are better because of him.
For those that never had the pleasure of seeing Bert pull, he was truly one of the best of all time and had epic wars with some of the best of all time including what many believe to be the longest match ever pulled with Dave Patton. I have heard that it was somewhere between 11 and 19 minutes. Even later in his career he still had unbelievable endurance. Armwrestling has definitely lost a pioneer.

i have known about Bert by the Armbenders Magazines and even then i was amazed by him.then i have met him in a few tournaments including 2001 Harley Pull and 2001 WAF where i had chance to chat with him.i can not say that i know him well but i can say that he was a smart man with good intentions.he was very friendly to me and i was happy about it since he was a Legend who inspired me.when i consider his personality with his armwrestling career then he always created a positive feeling in me whenever i heard about him.
now i hear that he passed away and i am sorry to hear this.i wish patience to his family and to his beloved ones.
