Great Tournament in Nashville, TN last night. Well run by David Owens and his wife. What impressed me most:
1. I witnessed the best National Anthem I have ever heard live, in person.
2. The tournament started right on time, even the supermatch was completed before the 6:00 start time.
3. The tournament was run as quick as it could have been. All classes had at least 4 pullers. The place was packed.
Might need a second table next year, run time of 4 hrs. 40 mins.
4. Good job referees David and Sunny Gay.
3 Things I learned from my experience last night:
1. The biggest difference between Novice and Open is that Pros are always trying to cheat/get an edge before the go.
2. The flop wrist press is dangerous and should be banished from the sport, I now have an unnecessary popped tendon in my right elbow and I can't hardly straighten my arm this morning.
3. My left arm has caught up to my right arm.
1 definatly the best national anthem I've ever heard
2 I'm proud to say every event we have run has started on time give or take 5 minutes
3 I agree next year we will run two tables
4 not my favorite job (refing) but definatly the best seat in the house
1 not all pros are trying to cheat but I agree they sure will take a mile if you give them an inch
2 the flopped wrist press is a dangerous move and I wish there were a way to get rid of it, sorry to hear about the injury hope you recover fast
3 I agree and in both cases I am now reassured you are no longer a novice, good pulling last night in both classes , Impressive win over feltner hes a strong dude and has a win over the great Mike West.
