Great Tournament in Nashville, TN last night. Well run by David Owens and his wife. What impressed me most: 1. I witnessed the best National Anthem I have ever heard live, in person. 2. The tournament started right on time, even the supermatch was completed before the 6:00 start time. 3. The tournament was run as quick as it could have been. All classes had at least 4 pullers. The place was packed. Might need a second table next year, run time of 4 hrs. 40 mins. 4. Good job referees David and Sunny Gay.
A few results: Open Class Left Arm 199+ Max Moore went undefeated Left Arm 198 Mark Taggart went undefeated Left ARm 176 Ron Rucic went undefeated Left ARm 154 Brian Rice went undefeated
Right Arm 243+ Blaine Middleton won over Paul Walther Right Arm 242 Paul Walther won over Max Moore Right Arm 198 Mike West, Mark Taggart, Mike Gianelli, Anthony Edens Right Arm 176 David Owens looked impressive over everyone. Right Arm 154 Bill Brown went undefeated
Novice: Left 176 A really fit, older guy defeated Scott Whitfield's son. Left 177+ Anthony Edens, Jason Gulley, Jackie Johnson, JC Troxell
Right 199+ Jackie Johnson, Jason Gulley, JC Troxell Right 198 Can't remember Right 176 Can't remember
3 Things I learned from my experience last night: 1. The biggest difference between Novice and Open is that Pros are always trying to cheat/get an edge before the go. 2. The flop wrist press is dangerous and should be banished from the sport, I now have an unnecessary popped tendon in my right elbow and I can't hardly straighten my arm this morning. 3. My left arm has caught up to my right arm.

Thanks for posting this Anthony. Great job to my training partners Paul and Mike. I am truly surprised that Paul didn't win left handed. Kudos to Max Moore. Any idea how Mike Gianelli did lefty?

Had a great time, just wish I hadn't left my video camera power cord there And that was the best national anthem I've ever heard, but what else would you expect being in music city

One more thing, we ran the open class first which had some great matches and pumped up the crowd, during the open class we had 10 more novice pullers sign up from people who were at the venue, I think this system proved its success especially if you are at a venue with a good crowd on hand.

I agree. Kept everyone busy instead of gettin stale after a few hrs. Plus had a place to warm up. And let the novice get a chance to learn from alot of the pros. Maybe for next yr, even tho were not doing the points race, we could still bring some extra tables for this purpose.

I agree 100%. My brothers and nephew had a blast pullin a lot of guys on the side. It even got my nephew thinkin that he may want to join in on the sport. It was great having a veteran like Mike West that was ready to pull anyone that was eager to learn about the sport and take the time to instruct them on the proper way to go about it safely. And like Mike said, I think he pulled everyone in the house.... Haha! Thanks Mike!
